This was a very nice hotel, clean, brightly decorated, efficient staff, delicious food and very comfortable. There was a large screen TV in an open plan room with a library shelf, internet computers and a children's playroom.

We had half board with a self-service restaurant. The breakfast consisted of a cold section [ham, cheese and salad], a hot section [bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, beans and tomatoes] and a selection of bread and toast. There was also fruit juice, tea and coffee available.
Dinner was also self-service with soup, a salad bar, a hot counter that had three types of meat dishes and vegetables. Then a cake, gateaux, or ice cream selection. There is also a bra in the restaurant where you can purchase drinks.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a great view of Valletta from the roof with an indoor heated swimming pool and a outdoor pool with sun loungers.
Just returned from a week's stay in the Bayview self catering apartments. We stayed in a two bedroomed apartment in the "annexe", it's a 10 to 15 minute walk up a steep hill (it's easier to walk in the road than on the uneven pavement). Our apartment was on the first floor (No. 7106).There is no direct daylight into the living and kitchen areas so you need the lights on all the time. The "enclosed" court yard is approx 3 metres x 2 metres and contains all the wastepipes from the five floors above so there is always the sound of rushing water.The balcony which is off of one of the bedrooms has no view as it is surrounded by high walls. The bedrooms had damp patches on the walls and ceilings and the drawers and wardrobes smelt. There is no direct telephone link to the hotel reception and no satelite channels on the TV. The bathroom door did not shut or have a working lock and beware the hot water it is SCALDING!!! Also there is no light over the stairs which is okay if the entrance hall and the landing lights are on, but if not it is very dark.

I stayed in this hotel during February 2006. The price was very good during winter and I was really surprised by the quality of this hotel. Room was nice, clean and mainly bathroom was surprisingly spacious. It was cleaned every day with new towels too.
Breakfast was OK even definitely not the best I ever eat. Staff was helpful and I didn´t have anything to complain about during my five days stay. I have been there due to my job (office was on The Strand street too) so cann´t rate the location from tourists point of view.

Had to wait till 2pm to book in, receptionist needed a personality transplant, room when we were finally given the keys was lovely. Glad we paid extra for a sea view otherwise we would have been facing building work. Food in restaurant was absolutely average poor choice mainly pasta, chicken nuggets and ice cream.Very limited times 6.30 - 8.00pm in the evening but was then restricted again to 7pm as students were allowed to go in first at 6.30. Positives only a few : couple of the restaurant staff manged a smile, rooms were cleaned daily and maids were very charming. Pool top view beautiful.

We have just returned from staying in a two bedroomed apartment at the Bayview. After reading some reviews I was a bit worried what it would be like. After checking in we were shown to our apartment which was about three roads away from hotel, but upon arrival were pleasantly surprised. It was on the 4th floor had two bathrooms one of which had a washing machine. It was nice and clean and was cleaned every day. We had fresh towels each day and sheets were changed twice during our 14 days stay. We had a huge balcony with two sun loungers and parasol. We had trouble with our air con in lounge and a dripping tap and after reporting it at reception someone came later that day and fixed both, which was very impressive. We did not eat in hotel except for the Chinese Restaurant which is worth a visit. In a really good location for ferries and buses. We walked to other end of Sliema and also St Julians loads of nice restaurants. It was our first visit to Malta and will certainly return

My family of 4 stayed at this hotel 1 week in June and in a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. It was very clean and had maid service every other day. We had a huge terrace and a view. I think we paid 88 US dollars a night. Yes the furniture is basic, but the beds were clean and comfortable enough with extra pillows. AC was great and we had a fridge, stove and washing machine and dryer (actually 1 in each bathroom). Everything was new - floors, furniture tile but basic. The beds were not bad, the place very clean (and I am PICKY) . I stayed at the DIPLOMATE last time when I was in Malta in Sliema. It is a 4 star hotel and it was very dirty. Don't go buy the star ratings - I think they award stars on the amenties they offer..........
