Classic 5 star accommodation
by SophieTango about Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort
Comfortable and friendly with true 5 star service. A 10-15 minutes uphill walk to/from the closest main bus stop (you dip into the valley then back up the hill both ways!), plenty of taxis otherwise. Rooms with sea view and balconies. Nice breakfast buffet.
Realistic outlook!

We arrived at the Radisson Bay without unfortunately having read the reviews in TripAdvisor. The hotel is clean and staff are very helpful. The location of the hotel however leaves a lot to be desired. It is not actually in St Georges Bay but quite a walk up and down hill to the Bay area. My wife who recently underwent a bypass operation was not prepared to tackle the hills. The so called courtesy bus runs very infrequently and not at all in the evenings so it means expensive taxi rides if you want to have a wider selection of restaurants in St Julians. The so called 'courtesy' bus costs about £6 to Valetta return for two.Valetta has not had any money spent on it for years and is looking very dirty. The pavements are a nightmare. As another reviewer points out it was a waste of time going to the Radisson Golden Beach. We went on a dirty noisy uncomfortable mini bus on some of the worst roads in Europe I would think. On arrival we weren't even greeted and had to approach a salesman! All we asked for was a taxi back. The area looked pretty devoid of anything interesting. Getting back to the Radisson Bay Point Hotel, the lockers in the indoor pool were locked and inaccessible. There were two large windows cracked in pool area. The outside pool, admittedly not in use, had many of the tiles surrounding it removed. The food in the hotel was OK but not 5 star. This was pointed out to the General Manager. The air conditioning was noisy. We had to move from one room because we were near the extractor fans from the kitchen which someone had forgotten to switch off at night.Do not even move anything in the room fridge (the items are connected electronically to the accounts)or it will be charged so there is no way of putting your own drinks in to keep cold.
We came to Europe for a wedding in Malta
by TripAdvisor Member TobagoTIm
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Malta. Looking now at the year round weather perhaps we were fortunate to have picked June. It was warm all of the time; the evenings required a jacket because of the sea breeze. The rooms at the Radisson were large and well-appointed. Service was excellent. The hotel was very helpful with things that are necessary in preparation for a wedding and for a reception. Each room has a balcony overlooking the sea. The dining was very good but not fantastic. The wedding itself was in the village of Naxxar. We had the opportunity to meet the people of Malta and visit the historical sites. The wedding reception was back at the hotel. It was a wonderful experience and we look forward to coming back.
great holiday

Went with my partner and 15 year old son. Had a twin room with an additional bed for our son, would have liked a little more privacy as 15 is a little too old to sleep in the same room as parents. The twin beds were large and comfortable, the spare bed was small and not as comfortable. Bathroom lovely, bathrobes available. Room lacked storage for the 3 of us but would be fine for 2. Mini bar stocked but expensive. Tv had a good selection of english channels. Hotel did have wifi facilties but did have to set it up at reception first, didnt work all the time but pretty good. Food fantastic, stayed half board breakfast buffet style and selection was vast. Evening meal had buffet style but also carvery and chef cooked speciality, dont think I saw a repeated meal. It was my birthday during our stay and they provided a cake and sang happy birthday made me feel very special. Gym is a little old but fine to burn of calories from the fantastic desserts! Indoor pool and jacuzzi nice. Towels provided and plentiful. The location is awesome, beautiful sea views, ( all rooms are sea view) no beach but you can enter the sea via metal steps, although late october the sea temp was lovely.
The staff are fantastic, concierge so helpful. Waitors are great and eager to please. Definately worth the price, coastline (sister hotel) nicer from the outside but nowhere near as nice inside.
Maltese people have to be the nicest people in the med.

Spring in Malta

Excellent friendly service. Only real complaint was the cost of the mini-bar. Good pools, plenty of room and lots of sunbeds.
SEAVIEWS BRILLIANT.
Easy walk down to a lively Paceville and plenty of interesting places to visit on the island.
Very, Very Good

Our family visited this hotel April 2006 and stayed for six nights.
I am fortunate (mainly through business) to have stayed in many top (5 star) hotels in the UK and overseas.
The Bay Point may not have been the fanciest but it ticked just about every box that is important to me.
It is well positioned being on a quiet headland in St Georges Bay. It has great ocean front views from pretty much every angle. It was spotlessly clean. It had plenty of outside space and did not feel at all crowded. It was a short 10 minute walk into St Julians where there are plenty of places to eat etc. It had plenty of parking. The breakfast offering was extensive and pretty good. Any other food that we purchased was good and reasonably priced (for 5 star hotels that is)
The clincher for me was the quality and friendliness of the staff. Every single member of staff that we came into contact with was without exception truly excellent. Any request we had was dealt with quickly, efficiently and with a smile.
There were a few negative points about the hotel. They certainly have a problem with the lifts as although they had four, frequently only one or two seemed to be working. Parts of the hotel (for example, cracked tiles around the pool) were a little worn but that is no different from many so called "top" hotels that I have been lucky enough to stay in. That though really was about it.
We visit Malta frequently and have stayed at the Interontinental, the Hilton and the Westin (in this part of Malta).
The Hilton is the fanciest (and most expensive), the Intercontintal is the most contemporary and in the middle of the town. The Westin (was not my cupo of tea although I am not sure why).
The Bay Point was the friendliest and for a family holiday I think that is probably the most important thing.
Hotel Double booked
by TripAdvisor Member JoannaWood
After a long journey there, we arrived to find out the hotel had double booked us (party of 5) They arranged for us to stay at another hotel and upgraded us to HB , as I was travelling with 2 children, it was a great upheaval to be told on day 4 we'd have to move back. That said, Hotel was lovely, staff excellent efficient, couldn't do enough! Food fantastic too. Only critisism was that the maid didn't clean room well, just made the beds.

We stayed at this hotel because prior to visiting malta we'd heard some bad press about how built up and commercial it was, we wanted to avoid the most busy areas and this hotel was about 15 mins walk to st juliens and perfectly placed to be away from the hubbub but near enough for access to local buses for traveling around. Only downside was the walk through paceville (mini version of ibiza on sea for the young free , and uninhibited) to reach the more pleasant areas to eat.
We had a fabulous junior suite (worth paying the extra, with a double aspect sea view) watching the sunset from our balcony and seeing the little fishing boats pass by of an evening was idealic . The lady who cleaned the room every day called antoinette was a sweetheart and couldnt do enough for us, room was always spotless.
The bistro bar serves up good and varied food if you dont feel like walking into the town although there are loads of little places to eat at spinola bay a short distance away. The edge restaurant does a good basic menu for lunch at the waters edge. Breakfast can be whatever you want, excellent selection and available from 7.30-10.30 for those who like a lie in!
Evening entertainment was ok and not intrusive, but the bar lacks soul.
Malta is so easy to get around, local bus services brilliant and cheap , its the only way to really see and feel the spirit of malta, the maltese people are lovely.
