Travel Tips for Sliema
Sliema Strand
by Incubus30
The Sliema seafront streches for more than 5miles and is the most popular area in this city. The wide pavement is loved by the Maltese who come to relax here. Throught Spring & Summer, the Sliema Strand is packed with families who come here for there relaxing Passigata (walk) .
In the colder months, this area is also popular for nice walks during the night. The nice romantic walk along Sliema's rocky beaches is unique.
Maltese Patron Saint Feast
by Incubus30
In Sliema there are 5 parish churches. Each parish church celebrates its Patron Saint feast in a dedicated weekend in the Summer time,so you should be lucky enough to manage to attend one of these feast.
Should be an enjoyable evening, where you can see the fireworks display on Saturday and the procession on Sunday . Also you can taste some local maltese food.
Do visit one of the churches too. They are very rich and will be duly decorated for the feast
The duck's village
by call_me_rhia
The duck's village on Manoel Island in sliema is a bizarre place: a fenced garden of improvised stone sculptures and decaying animal figurines as well as – obviously – real living ducks. And those ducks have houses, gardens, a cemetery and even a boat. Each house has a sign on top of it, with the name of the duck which inhabits it. A weird place… but I liked it.
Watch out don;t crash into it !

This photo was sent to me by my friend so I am not very sure what it is. In my opinion it was once the old 'Break Water' however during the time of the War it was bombed by a torpedo and this is what is left of it. This is situated just between Sliema and Valletta. Today another breakwater of stone was built. This is a curved wall which is built to protect the Grand Harbour from huge waves during bad weather !
Novelty tour
by joanj
There is a Novelty bus that takes you on a tour to the Three Cities, this pink coloured one, and a blue one in the second picture.
It departs from Sliema Ferry, and the cost at Oct. 2008 is Euro 10.
