Hotel Inspector needed urgently!

The good points: The view of the bay and Valetta is stunning if you have a roadside room. The rooms are large. The hotel is ideally situated for practically all activities.

The bad points: The management seem to have no idea at all of what the needs of a guest actually are. You are charged extra for air conditioning, the use of a kettle (surely an essential in a room these days? Even the worst B&B in Britain provides a kettle in your room!) and an iron. The rooms have terrible lighting, old TVs with no remote control, no coat hangers in the wardrobe, no plug for the bath, tired and worn towels, stained walls, carpets and lampshades and tatty furniture. Oh ... and the noise from the road is incessant. The staff, although decent enough always seem to look miserable and stunned by any question I asked them.

Now on to the breakfast. Is it really so difficult to provide such a simple meal? The dining room looked drab and uninviting. There was a table with one type of processed cheese, one type of square processed ham, a stainless steel bowl containing cornflakes and a jug of watered down orange drink. You had a choice of brown or white sliced bread which you could toast yourself, butter and jam. No-one offered me any tea or coffee and in the end I had to go and ask if I could have a cup of tea! I have never experienced such a bad breakfast. Needless to say after the first morning I never went there again and found a supermarket and bought my own things! I even paid the 2 euros PER DAY to have a kettle in my room.

Sliema Hotel management if you are reading this please provide decent food and service. A simple but good quality breakfast is not difficult: fresh fruit, some yogurt, a good cheese and decent bread or pastries along with tea and coffee offered to you as you sit down. It is basic hospitality, which you are sadly lacking.

I will never stay here again. For 50 euros a night I am sure there are better places to be! It makes me appreciate the service I have had in the UK and elsewhere!

Unique Quality: No pool, no outdoor space to sit. The roadside rooms do have great view however if you can stand the noise.
