Childrens malta

by alanbright

I am thinking of visiting Malta with my two five year old daughters, as you can appreciate they are very active!! what kind of things would be available for them to do during their weeks holiday in Malta???

i have to be honest if you are looking for an action packed holiday for kids malta won't suit - a lot of the attractions are historically based & probably won't appeal, however here are some suggestiona:

swimming everywhere is great and there are some lovely beaches.

the popeye village (set from the film) is designed for kids.

boat trips are plentiful - recommend the blue lagoon.

try mediteraneo marine park - the dolphin, parrot & sea lion shows are great fun for all ages.

sundays (i think) there is a display at the fortress in valletta.

every weekend as far as i can tell a village somewhere has a firework display to celebrate their saints day - it is a late night but well worth it - never seen fireworks like it before!

there is a water park - but i've never been, check out www.visitmalta.com/splash-fun-water-park

thats about it - hope it helps

Also depends on what hotel you are staying at, as some of the good hotels have fun packed animation teams which have activities available at the hotels like pool games and day trips.

Also there is playmobil which is situated quite close to the airport.

Travel Tips for Sliema

Tour agent

by joanj

If you are on a package tour, the first thing that happens is that your tour rep will want to sell you trips/tours. Do not pay the high cost of these, instead get the same tours through an agent like OASIS TOURS who are agents for Captain Morgan cruises.

If you are staying in Sliema then the office is next to the Preluna Tower apts. The costs are considerably lower.

Oasis Tours, 124B Tower Road, Sliema. Tel. Office - 2131 1531

Kinnie

by steventilly

Kinnie is the soft drink of choice here – or it should be, don’t buy the Coca-Cola company’s rival Krest – and sitting on the seawall with Valletta behind you is as good a place to drink it as any!
Kinnie is made from “bitter oranges and herbs” to quote the label, but I’d never have guessed it as it doesn’t really taste of oranges. It is quite unique though and very refreshing.

Dragon Style Kung Fu

by Incubus30

If you are in Sliema, have a look at Malta's oldest KungFu kwoon.
Here you can have a look at students training this old & rare style. This kwoon has an Open door policy so just come and have a look. If you are a Martial Artist yourself and would like to join us,just come over and have a chat with our Sifu.

sea water distillery

by call_me_rhia

Walking along Tigne seafront I came upon this strange little building with a strange writing on it. Sea water distilling 1881. Thanks to Wikipedia I laer discovered that this was the first ever sea water distillery on the island of Malta and that it was used to provide fresh water to the British barracks on the Tigne Seafront. As far as I know it was in operation for only one year, then it housed a printing press. In 2010, when I visited Sliema, it did not look very operative…

A map to help you around

by Incubus30

Sliema is not such a large city and its grid style streets should make it easier to move around.

If you want there is an online map in the Sliema 's local council website. The link is :-
