was next to my hotel

The Waterfront hotel was next to the Hotel Milano Due where i had spent 5 nights in November 2010. The Waterfront Hotel is a 4star hotel with almost every room facing the waterfront and also offering a balcony.

Unique Quality: All of the balconies of the Waterfront hotel had a fence, so the wind would blow through it, while in the Milano Due they had a solid glass to prevent the wind from blowing through.
In the Milano Due there were also plastic-chairs on each balcony, while on the balconies of the Waterfront hotel only a few of them had chairs.

Great location for excursions

Situated in a prime location along the Sliema seafront promenade, this hotel has been built and developed to the highest standards of comfort, safety and hygiene. Its location provides spectacular views of the harbour in front and of the famous fortifications of Malta’s historic capital city – Valletta. It is within a short walk of the centre of Malta’s most popular resort – Sliema, and close to shops and popular restaurants and bars.

Unique Quality: Classified in the “ four – star category “, this 116-roomed property features two restaurants, a lobby bar, a roof-top swimming pool with snack bar, a guest lounge, private parking and conference facilities. Each of the rooms is excellently finished, and features a balcony, an ensuite bathroom, mini-bar, guest safe and air-conditioning.

The Waterfront Hotel provides comfortable and modern accommodation in a central location.

The Waterfront Hotel

This hotel is a really nice and pleasant hotel enjoying beautiful seaviews and very close to all the shopping centre and the Strand ! The hotel is just at the edge of Gzira but at the beginning of Sliema. The atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxing and very organised infact it is a very popular hotel amongst many foreigners.

The has its own jewellery shop and resturant and pizzeria.

Unique Quality: In the road of the hotel just a few doors upwards there is an English Language school.

Waterfront Hotel

A pleasant stay here during a weeks stay in Sliema. Obviously from its name its on the Sliema waterfont - well just across the road - and is situated not far from Manoel Island - well not truly an island as linked by a causeway. Nova Kennedy is very close too. Incidently its location is strictly speaking in Gzira - the first building in this locale.
We booked on a late deal package with flights included - I except room rate would be a lot more than what we paid if booked independently.

Unique Quality: Good sized rooms and modern furnishings. We didn't have a sea-view balcony - being winter time and being out all day sightseeing we wouldn''t have had chance to use it anyway. Instead our room looked onto a pleasant inner couryyard and didn't suffer from any road noise.

Breakfast was buffet style and OK but not a great variation from day to day. We hadn't booked half board but the hotel's Regatta restaurant with its sea views gave discounts to hotel guests so we tried it the first night we arrived as we were too tired to go into St Julians.
Dinner was very good with plenty of choices from the buffet:
Salad selections - lovely varities each night
Soup - always piping hot and tasty
Main courses - international cusine and maltese specialities with veggie options too
Selection of desserts and ice-cream
Cheese and biscuits

so indeed you could have a great feast for less than 6 lira which was excellent value - we ate in 3 times :-))

Hotel With A View

We saw this place when we walked through Sliema on a previous visit to Malta and knew that this was where we'd want to stay the next time we came.

Unique Quality: The hotel is modern, comfortable and clean and from its seaward rooms (for which of course you pay a supplement) you get fantsatic views of the harbour and across to Valletta. Believe me, that supplement is well worth it because I never tired of the views.
Breakfast is a fairly standard buffet style - nothing remarkable, but filling and pleasant enough.
There is a nice rooftop pool area from which you can get the same magnificent views as you can from the seaward facing rooms, if you don't care to pay the extra.

Waterfront, Sliema

by steventilly about Waterfront, Sliema

Quite a new hotel, it only opened in 1999. It's right on The Strand at Sliema and its wedge shaped design means that many rooms have a view of the waterfront and across to Valletta. It has all the facilities you would expect, including a rooftop pool.
This hotel is very conveniently located for getting to Valletta, St Julians and beyond, and for such things as taking a harbour cruise. Probably we will stay here on our next visit to Malta. Bizzarely the website for this hotel does not give its address or its phone number. Sounds like a job for Sabs.

Super holiday

by A TripAdvisor Member

I spent 1 week in this hotel. The hotel is in the central (good location) near Valetta. The staff is frendly and smiling. The room is super and modern.
The food is smorgasbord and there are lot of choice.
This hotel is the best in Malta.

The perfect place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member colmac56

Just retuned from our third holiday in Malta but the first staying at The Waterfront. Absolutely superb! Will not stay anywhere else on future trips.
Location, accomodation, food, staff - couldn't fault any of them.
Try for a corner room on high floor. Large room with two balconies and wonderful views over harbour and Valetta.

A good location, but not a 4 star hotel.

by TripAdvisor Member Osc

This hotel has a great location, and first impressions in the lobby are wonderful. Our "inside", room, however, was very much like a cave, and we eagerly paid the 15 dollar per day surcharge the next day to upgrade to a sea view room. And an extraordinary view it was, over the water to Valetta.
From the Waterfront hotel it is convenient to catch one of the old vintage busses and make connections to all the sights on the island. The ferry to Valetta is also close. Harbor cruise boats are literally just across the street.
Though the view (surcharge required) and location were exceptional, the room we had in this hotel did not, however, meet standards we expect of a four star rated establishment. Specifically, we experienced uncomfortable beds, a roughly finished and less than sparklingly clean bathroom, lack of basic amenities such as hand soap, and there were plastic curtains. We expect more class and comfort from a four star place.
Neither did the breakfast buffet measure up to our expectations. An attempt was made to cater to both German and British tastes, but the result did not reflect, as near as I could tell, Maltese cuisine.

i haven't stayed there although i had a buffet dinner once and the food was very very good. Location is very nice right in the heart of sliema but far enough to avoid the noise during the day. it has quite a good reputation

Yes have stayed there on a package and enjoyed it. Good location and good buffet meals. Handy for transport into Valletta using local buses and also tourist buses depart from Sliema doing 2 circular routes taking in some popular attractions. I have a tip review on it.

I have stayed at the Howard Johnson Diplomat Hotel and unless you want to have a bad time in a crap hotel, I do not recommend you to go there. The Howard Johnson Diplomat Hotel is to avoid because of the unfriendlyness of the staff and the dirtyness of the room.
