Hotel Meridian

in the center and affordable!

We stayed there in Oct. 2000 .
We chose the category > two bed room with running (warm/cold) water < and we payed 50 MdLei per night per person (there also is a registration fee when you check in).
We also had a look at the higher categories, but nevertheless decided to try this inexpensive version.
The room was fine, sort of spartan but clean.

For this type of room the toilets were at the end of the corridor and in old soviet style! ... definitely more for the somewhat though budget traveller...! If it is important for you to feel comfortable there too, you should choose a category with private bathroom!

While we were there, there already was some renovating going on. Now they probably already have completed most of it.
For the category we chose, they now charge US$ 8.-.
The most expensive category would cost US$ 50.- for a complete suite of 2 rooms with bathroom etc..

Unique Quality: Something special about Meridian is, that they have the same tarifs for all guests! -No double price for foreigners!
Due to the low costs, sometimes even Moldovans can stay there.
While we were there, there stayed a youth music ensemble from another part of the country right on the same floor as we did.

We also had the feeling, that the receptionist cared very much for our well being; from good advice about getting there, to providing an escort to the best money exchange in the neighbourhood.
And there were no illegal money changers and other unpleasant figures in the lobby!
We really did appreciate!
