Service, facilities, amenities are just great. But we had to wait a few hours untill the room was cleaned ( 3pm instead of 11am). Nevertheless the surroundings, the beaches, the cocktail bar
made the delay to shower after a flight acceptable. Anyhow- this is Monte Carlo

Unique Quality: Towering over the glorious imposing vista of the shining sea. The bathroom, the beach party
I just felt at home (lol)

Le Meridien Beach Plaza

Maybe 300 USD if booked rack rate. Cheaper with package. One of the very few hotels in Monaco with a private beach, 2 outdoor pools and indoor pool. Great service, good value. Make sure you get a room with a sea view.

Great hotel

by nesscav about Le Meridien Beach Plaza

the hotel is very clean the staff is very friendly. Request the roof top stay, they serve champangne every night at 1900. the hotel has its own private beach and the pool is very large. also, with a beach view you can see the cruise lines coming and going.

Major disappointment!

by A TripAdvisor Member

What a terrible experience it was to stay at this hotel. We went to Monaco to celebrate my brother and sister's (twins) birthday and we were looking forward to a nice long weekend of fun and relaxation. Unfortunately, the hotel made our stay in Monaco unbearable. The rooms were so noisy that we would hear the elevator arrive, the doors slaming shut at every moment of the day and the staff were not helpful at all.

Since when do you go to a so called 5 star hotel and be woken up on a Saturday morning at 7:30am by the maids cleaning the rooms next door. They do not even try to accomodate the guests who are trying to sleep, they just go on and vacuum, bang doors and chit chat in the hallway.

Complaining to the concierge does you no good. They just tell you that they will take care of it and do absolutely NOTHING about it. The have no respect for the clients and they do not care at all about their sleepless mornings (we had 3 of those). Basically they are taking for granted the fact that the hotel is situated in Monaco and they feel as though they can treat us in any way.

The restaurant where we unfortunately dined was an embarassment. They tried to serve a salad as a main course dish, based on asparagus and microscopic shrimp. They charged a fortune for something and they give it to you with a smile. Making us feel as though they are robbing us with positive attitude. We complained to the restaurant manager and she said it is a problem in the description of the dish in the menu and that we were absolutely right to have said something but do you think they removed it from the bill? They did no such thing, so we ended up paying 35 euros for a salad that we did not eat and did not replace.

When in Monaco and you would like to be served with some kind of standards and have good service, comfortable rooms and GOOD food, stick with any SBM hotel. The price might be a little higher but at least you will not have any of the problems I mentioned above.

The Meridien Beach Hotel should really be ashamed of this and they should not think that just because they have renovated the place and made it look nice, that they can permit themselves to have this superiority attitude. At the end of the day, THE CLIENT IS THE KING AND IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

What's all the fuss about?

by TripAdvisor Member otl

I'm not sure if the disgruntled other reviewers went to the same hotel as we did. We stayed at the Meridien in Monaco on the weekend of the historic grand prix and it was very busy. However, we couldn't fault the hotel or the service. We arrived before lunch and we were lucky that our room was ready. We had only paid for a (cheaper) classic room which didn't have a view of the sea, but although the corridors could have done with a freshening lick of paint, our room was really superbly decorated. Flat screen TV, Marble bathroom (with excellent shower) and the most enormous bed. It was extremely comfortable. If that was a cheap room, then the rest must be good. The pool area and beach were clean and the poolside service was excellent. Although pricey, the bar service was good and it felt friendly. We didn't use the restaurant, mainly because there were some really nice restaurants on the beach about 4 minutes walk away. We also found breakfast there, because the hotel breakfasts were expensive and not to our taste.

Although the hotel is a 15 minute walk from Casino Square, it is a really nice walk along a clean and attractive promenade, which is great for people-watching. And a further 10 minutes gets you to the port and swimming pool area, made famous by F1 grand prix. Actually, it was an advantage to be away from the centre, which is full of traffic and noisy at night

The bus to Nice airport stops right outside the door, although the drop off point on the trip from Nice airport is bizarrely 5 minutes walk away.

All in all, although Monaco is not a cheap holiday, this hotel was good value and we would recommend it to anyone. The people who are moaning must have nothing better to do...

Great time in a great hotel

by TripAdvisor Member gourmandises

I went to Le Meridien for 3 days and had a great time.
As a travel professional ( travel agent in Italy) I can truly recommend this hotel.
Upon arriving you will do your check in seating at a beautifull desk, feeling like a special
guest. This is a great touch of class.
I had a delux ocean view room with a balcony facinfg the sea. Gourgeous view and
big room with modern furnitures. The bathroom not to big but everything was there.
I would suggest this rooms instead of the standard ones; they face the road.
There are also newer rooms in the crystal towers, butifully appointed, bigger than the delux but no balcony. This is a personal preference, but i wolud rather have a
balcony where you can sip a drink instead of a bigger room.
A tip: always put the do not disturb sign on your door, otherwise you'll have someone knocking very early in the morning. Also, tv channel choice is limited.
Breakfast in the room is good and i would suggest not to take the buffet, it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Actually it's more expensive than room service.

The great thing about le Meridien is the private beach. Water is turquoise and there is
always someone willing to help you with a drink or soda. The gin lemon is the best i've
ever had. Sadly one of the beach guys, the ones dressed in red and wite, was not
really doing his job....but all the others were great. And great it's also the service
at the bar outside. A note: at le meridien you can drink and have food 24h a day.
Even very late at night there was always someone with a smile serving you.

I didnt try the restaurant beacause i always prefer not to eat at the hotel.
Montecarlo is expensive and all the services at le meridien are not cheap, but
i was expecting that and didn't find this place more expensive than others.
The fact that you have your own private beach is a huge plus to this hotel.
If going to Monaco think that temperatures are very high and if you don't even have a swimming pool your time will be hard to go by.

Congratulations to all the staff for an excellent time at le meridien.

Great view, overpriced, bad service

by A TripAdvisor Member

We were there for five days in late June 2006. The location is great - right on the beach, watersports, great views. The service is atrociusly bad. Check in is 2 desks with zero privacy and seemed to take for ever. The fancy shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Their reponse was to send more towels to mop up the leaks. It took 2 days to get someone to unlock the security safe. The elevators are too few so getting to and from your room can be very frustrating. Prices for everything are high. The restaurant delivers uneven qualiy at outrageus prices e.g. 104 euros for a small baked sea bass. Breakfast seemed to be included some days, other days it was charged - complete mystery! The most annoying part was the indifference of the staff. A guest on the same floor had a dog that left a small message on the carpet near the elevator, Housekeeping staff were right there cleaning up another part of the carpet and left the poop. The last night there I had placed a wake-up call that never arrived and we almost missed our flight. Summary : OK place to stay, eat and drink somewhere else, terrible value for money

Nice!! Few Problems!!

by TripAdvisor Member GCKent

Nice but few problems!!!

Hotel was very clean and modern!! Excellent arrival with water and apricots being bought to our room and we checked in earlier than expected without any problems. Our room had a great view over neighbouring pool and side sea view, modern facilities and interiors, very clean, most comfy beds ever slept in and just about enough cupboard space for two girlies on a weeks holiday.

Pool warm , poolside clean, beach was fabulous with good waiter service, sea clear and cleaned regularly. Restaurant, bar all fine although we only had breakfast which is ok if included.

Lunch if you get sick of paying over 30 euro for lunch pop along the beach front (out of hotel turn left) and you can get a massive panini for 5, also a lovely Jazz restaurant down there for dinner with live misic great food on the beach very nice with handsome waiters, for food you must visit Zebra Square (trendy great food, good people watching try and get a table outside overlooking sea, dj later in the evening) Sass Cafe (live music, place to be seen), Bar & Beouf (very different food mostly beef and seabass a theme representing the earth & water, expensive try this on a night when your going to Jimmyz as you wont have to Q if your nice to the Maitre 'd.) Cafe de Paris great for people watching can eat there or just drink, also dont forget to visit the casino. For lively nights dont expect too much Jimmyz is good but expensive Friday and Saturday are the livliest nights over by Marina is Rasscass a lively bar throughout the week with good music.

If you can hire a car theres one scenic road the runs along the coast passing through Nice, Antibes, Juan les Pins, Cannes loads of lovely little bays and beaches to stop at also loads of clothes shops in Juan les Pins, designer shops in Cannes and markets in Antibles we made it as far as St Rapheal one day would not recommend any further unless more than one driver.

Problems: item of clothing went missing from room and despite various liasons with house keeping and reception still no explanation, hotel is very corporate with sections of the hotel and grounds (including poolside, sections of beach) being closed off to other guest during fuctions, no courtesy room offered for late check outs however gym facilities are fine, beach toilet and shower facilities not cleaned regularly enough!! Bellboys can be stroppy despite us carrying our own luggage!!

A hotel with some modern pizazz!

by TripAdvisor Member Rusty18

We stayed at the hotel for two days. Our room was in the newer tower . We had a fabulous room that faced the ocean. It was ultra modern with the largest bathroom and shower.

We loved having breakfast outside each morning. Although the outside service was a little slow. But when your on vacation you need to slow down anyway!

It is a good walk to the casino and the royal palace, but it is a beautiful walk along the beach and the main shopping street.

On our last night in Monte-Carlo we had walked all day, so when we got back to the hotel we just wanted something light to eat before we packed. The restaurant had a very large dinner menu that was too much food for what we were thinking about. The staff was able to accomadate us with some lighter fare off the lunch menu. We also had a wonderful bottle of wine to complete a wonderful trip to Monaco...
