hotel Faber, Hoogezand

The Faber family is running this hotel since 1901. It is the fourth generation now. The 18 rooms are renovated and do have a bath or shower, toilet, television, radio and phone.
Prices 2002:
1 pers: €55 2pers : €75
rooms with a large bath:
1 pers: €68 2 pers:€85
prices include breakfast and local taxes.

When Tom was working in the north of our country he often stayed here during the week. It feels like a second home and family.

I used to stay at the Krasnapolsky, on the Dam; a little pricey but a really good buffet breakfast, Dutch style. Now I stay at smaller, boutique type hotels that are less grand but less expensive and more personal.

Endless posibilities from this
housing

Decent hotels are in The Netherlands pretty expensive. Two stars and lower can give you surprises (especially in Amsterdam you might wind up in the Red-Light-district). Although not many Bed & Breakfasts are available in The Netherlands, this is a good stay and it gives the posibility to go around from place to place (go by bike!). Campings are very good and a special kind of camping are those at farmhouses.

17 Euros per night.

Housing in the woods. This is a wonderful and very romantic location but there are no hotels around. Although perhaps there may be in the nearest town of Bunnik: I've never looked.

Directions: Rijnauwen is about 20 mins from Utrecht Central. The best way to get there is to take the number 41 bus from the back on Utrecht Central train station. The cost is about 2/3 Euros and the route there

When on the island of Schouwe Duivenland, you can either stay at the ARC HOTEL or the DUINHOTEL.
Very nice and not too expensive.
The DUINHOTEL is a bit more expensive but the rooms are larger and the breakfast (included in the price) is great.

Accomodation ranges from campsides to 5 star hotels, so depending on your budget there is a bed waiting for you. Just don't forget to book if you go to touristic places like amsterdam, because otherwise you will be sleeping on the streets.

The Hotel Pension Zonneweelde in Oosthuizen, about 10 km north of Edam offers nice, small rooms, very friendly service, and HUGE delicious breakfasts. It's a nice place to stay just outside Amsterdam.

Out of Amsterdam, there are not so many hotels in the Netherlands as in other countries. You often have to choose hotels that are far away from the center. Fortunately all the hotels are very clean and comfortable.
