    Housing in the woods. This is a wonderful and very romantic location but there are no hotels around. Although perhaps there may be in the nearest town of Bunnik: I've never looked.

  • Directions: Rijnauwen is about 20 mins from Utrecht Central. The best way to get there is to take the number 41 bus from the back on Utrecht Central train station. The cost is about 2/3 Euros and the route there

    • Whatever you do do not stay at the Last Watering Hole. Unless you are into the whole deprivation and sadist thing and want to be incessantly bothered every morning by the resident hee haw boy. And the bar downstairs is just too much. But if one thing is for sure it is one of a kind. Hey you might want to stay there just for laughs or 'life experience'

    A speakeasy coffeshop, a rowdy bar, terrible bathrooms and an english concierge with bad teeth and an inexcusable sense of humor.

    • Accomodation ranges from campsides to 5 star hotels, so depending on your budget there is a bed waiting for you. Just don't forget to book if you go to touristic places like amsterdam, because otherwise you will be sleeping on the streets.

    When on the island of Schouwe Duivenland, you can either stay at the ARC HOTEL or the DUINHOTEL.
    Very nice and not too expensive.
    The DUINHOTEL is a bit more expensive but the rooms are larger and the breakfast (included in the price) is great.

    This full-service hotel is conveniently located across from Centraal Station. Anyone who is not handicapped could easily walk from your train...just wheel your luggage carefully across the uneven pavement! Very convenient are the pedestrian shopping street (Nieuwendijk), the main boulevard (Damrak), and lots of historic churches. If you're a walker, it's a mile or so to the tourist spots near the Rijksmuseum. Trams are convenient. Breakfast was more than adequate and a pleasant suprise was storm windows (a rarity in Europe) which made the room very quiet. This is a full service hotel.

    The Hotel Pension Zonneweelde in Oosthuizen, about 10 km north of Edam offers nice, small rooms, very friendly service, and HUGE delicious breakfasts. It's a nice place to stay just outside Amsterdam.

    • Out of Amsterdam, there are not so many hotels in the Netherlands as in other countries. You often have to choose hotels that are far away from the center. Fortunately all the hotels are very clean and comfortable.
