    Kleinste hotel van Nederland...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Kleinste hotel van Nederland (Smallest hotel in the Netherlands)
Ask at VVV (tourist information) in Eenrum.

The hotel has only one double room. So you have lots of privacy!!!

  • Tip Rating:
  • I stayed at a very small hotel (with a very small, but comfortable room with a private bath) in fairly close proximity to the Rijksmuseum. Sadly, I cannot recall the name. It cost approximately US$60 at the time.

    The Hotel Spaander in Volendam...
The Hotel Spaander in Volendam is a charming old hotel built circa 1850. Most rooms have balconies overlooking the old Zuidersee (it is no longer called that). There is a terrific restaurant and bar in the hotel. Meals are served 'family style' except for the meat or fish.
    $80-120 depending on season.

All rooms have full amenities to include hairdryer and trousers press. There is an indoor pool and a workout room. The hotel has a great collection of porcelin plates which are displayed throughout the lobby.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Zeekoet
The smalest tent made bij the companie De Waard in The Netherlands, is our pride and joy. The tents made by this companie are the best your money can buy! They are the Rolls Royces amongst the tents. When erected correctly, they can withstand a strong gailforce wind! Drawbacks are that it takes at least 45 minutes to erect it, and the price of US$ 700,- (and that is for the smalest one). If you are interested you can take a look at their (Dutch) website: De Waard tenten
When spending weekends in the countyside we always camp. It's a relaxed way of living. You eat when you want, do nothing if you don't want to, and there is always something hapening around you.

    Vakantiepark Schouwen: Vakantiepark Schouwen
  • Tip Rating:
  • I don't know the prices, but it's just average, not expensive.

To walk to the beautiful beach takes 10 minutes. The park has facilities like a kids club, a cantine, a snackbar with a small restaurant, 3 playgrounds and of course showers and stuff like that. Very nearby is a small forrest with a creek to fish etc. The resort is very family-oriented and child-friendly

    Christian Youth Hostel Eben...
    Christian Youth Hostel Eben Haezer
appx. 20 guilders which includes breakfast

My friend and I were in Paris before Amsterdam when someone asked if we had made reservations for Amsterdam yet. Of course we hadn't. We were just flying by the seat of our pants. Well, apparently, the same time we were supposed to be in Amsterdam, they were hosting the soccer matches. We were told that pretty much everything was booked and I think his exact words were 'Good Luck'. Well we got on the phone immediately and Eben Haezer was the first place I called thinking that due to the restrictions that a Christian hostel had, most people wouldn't want to stay there in the midst of party time. I was right. Luckily they had rooms available. The hostel was very clean and friendly. I would recommend staying there if you are not the partying type. You're virtually guarenteed a safe quiet place to stay.

The curfew is 1am and there is an age limit of 36.

  • Tip Rating:
  • This is a view of one of the canals from 'aboard' the Amstel Botel..a very fun place to stay especially if you want to have a really up close look at all the boats in the area. Tour boats are pretty much a regular part of the scenery here so it is good to just enjoy the festive nature that seems to prevail!

Being right on one of the canals provides a great view of the city across the water and then all the tourists in the boats that are constantly on the move throughout the day and night is fun for people watching. Also the short walking distance to many shops with quick access to the public transportation is a real plus.
