We made a reservation in a hotel in Aduard, but due to an overbooking we were transferred to ‘De Gastheerd’ (or Guesthouse), also in Aduard. Afterwards we were very happy with it, because the hotel didn’t have too much charm. Completely different from the B&B, which is situated in an old (19th century) gentleman’s farmhouse.
It has 4 bedrooms, which share the spacious and modern bathroom (double wash basins, shower and bath), a breakfast room, which also can be used for reading a book or preparing the next day trip. It also offers a garden and a kind of orchard and it is possible to rent a bike to explore the surroundings of Aduard/Groningen.
Three spacious rooms are € 68, per night; we had a smaller one and had to pay € 58,-
There is also an self contained apartment in the ‘barn’ behind the main house.
The B&B is for sale on the moment (June 2007), so if you want to stay here, you will have to hurry.
Very good breakfast and very nice hosts (JoAnn and Hans van Seventer).

Ask for one of the many arrangements they offer. The mentioned price in this tip depends on the arrangement you get (we had a so called 'bikers welcome arrangement')

The hotel is located in the middle of the village of Borger in Drenthe. Around this village are a lot of cycling and walking routes. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the 'hunebedden' - the Dutch Dolmens.
Hotel Bieze is just renovated and offers 22 hotel rooms, modern, comfortable and with all facilities you may expect from a *** star hotel. It offers a gourmet restaurant, but it is also possible to have lunch or dinner in 'the Grand Café' or on one of the terraces.
Ask for the special packages.
It is possible to rent a bike through the hotel and to get routes.
As (almost) everybody comes to Drenthe and Borger to walk or cycle it is a great idea to offer the guests a local weatherforecast while they have dinner. So it is possble to plan your next trip.

We had a clean pleasant room and the breakfast was fresh and the coffee good and strong.
The owner was very friendly and helpful.
The area is great for walking or cycling and there is the wonderful NP "De Weerribben" nearby.
The hotel has had lots of bike routes printed.
This is a small family run hotel in a little village in the most southernly part of the province of Friesland. It makes it a great place to stay while exploring the provinces of Drenthe, Overijssel and Friesland.

The Hotel Keizerskroon was just barely basic. The bathroom was down the hall, shared by at least four rooms on each floor. The stairs were narrow and steep and there was a church bell tower right outside the window, an alarm clock was not needed on Sunday morning.
But, the rooms were clean, and the staff friendily! My wife and I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza 4 times and are staying there again this summer before flying home to Colorado Springs. We have stayed at other locations in Amsterdam like SAS Radisson on Rusland - 7 times, and The Marriott Hotel twice. Nice hotels, but we believe that it comes down to the people working in the hotel. We have been very fortunate to get nice rooms, quiet and clean. After all the walking one does the pool is a nice treat at the end of the day. Spend a few euros/dollars more and book a club room. Access to the roof top terrace and club room with complimentary drinks, beer and wine and lots, lots more.
The fact that it is down town, but it's quiet at night. A few years ago we stayed at the London Crowne Plaza when we where on our way to Scotland to get married. In our e-mails with the London Crowne Plaza before we left the US it came out that we were to be married in Scotland. On our arrival at the London hotel they gave us a free upgrade, a bottle of Champagne, a silver picture frame and a card that was signed by all the hotel staff. We were staying 1 night only. They must have e-mailed the manager in Amsterdam as we received similar treatment there too. Nice gestures, nice people with good communication makes the world of difference. This place made Leiden, birthplace of Rembrandt and the first dutch tulips, a more pleasurable experience. I would stay here again without a second thought! The price was right and the room was spacious, comfortable, and bright. Our room, and there is only a handful at the Rose, had three big windows looking out into the town square. Perfect for relaxing and people watching. The staff was friendly and personable. There was a small bar down below, for what it lacked in size it made up for in noise! This 280 bedroom Holiday Inn was located in the heart of Utrecht, adjacent to the central railway station. My wife and I stayed in room number 1104. Expensive... Yes!!! Mind you, it was luxuriously furnished with air-conditioning, large private bathrooms, double beds, and color television. I do recommend the breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor (great view).
