Hotel de Jonge

This colourful hotel I met on my small walking tour through the centre of Assen. It looks like a wonderful place to stay and is in the centre of town, which is always easy.

Unique Quality: Hotel de Jonge is a good place to stay in the center of Assen. The rooms are very comfortable. In and near the hotel you find a grand café, an à la carte restaurant, a brittish pub and a dancetheater/discotheque.
In summer they have a large terras where they serve an excelent "saté centraal" and other lunches. On wednesday and saturday there's a marked in front of the hotel.

Directions: Right in the center of Assen. About 10-15 minutes walk from the station.

Hotel de Jonge has 54 comfortable rooms. The 17 rooms in the old part of the building are furnished in style. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and popular grand-cafe "Centraal'' with a beautiful terrace.
Part of the hotelcomplex is also an English pub "the Beefeater'', a rockcafe "Docx" and a dance theatre annex disco "Diana''.

I didn't sleep in the Hotel myself, but I'm visiting the grandcafe with its terrace regularly.

Unique Quality: The best place in the heart of the city, with a nice atmosphere and interesting paintings.

Directions: In the city centre, a 5 minutes walk from the railwaystation. Just near the Drents Museum and historical buildings.

'Hotel de Jonge' is probably the most known in Assen. Either that or 'Motel v.d Valk'. Hotel de Jonge is quite normal and casual, while Motel v.d Valk is kind of posh and is visited a lot by bussiness people.
A big reccomendation is Hotel de Jonge. Close to disco 'Diana' and it is situated in the middle of the centre of Assen. Ideal for tourists.

Unique Quality: Very close to Disco Diana and situated practically in the middle of the city! Quite normal and casual, but very lively and nice during the evening.
