The Most Unusual Hotel Around

This "hotel" has only one room - and that is YOUR room! Well, actually the whole hotel is yours!

When we arrived we called the number that was given to us and about 15 minutes later the harbor crane warden came. She was a cheerful lady who explained everything to us - thinking about it, she explained it in Dutch, but we understood her very well!! She was so enthusiastic that we could not help feeling the same way (which we would have done anyway...)!

She showed us how to get to the top of the crane (this includes two elevators, one of them really spacey, just like in 'Starship Enterprise'), how to use the touch screen, which is a control center of both illumination and air condition/heating. She showed us the different levels (living area, crane operating area and the "sun deck") and made sure we felt comfortable!

Which we did!

In the morning at 8 a.m. we heard the elevator - and there was our breakfast! A very delicious meal that added to our comfort!

At 12 p.m. our crane lady came to pick us up and we were quite sad that this wonderful day had passed so fast! But it sure was a day that we will never ever forget!

Unique Quality: The Harlingen Harbor Crane is a most unusual hotel. The crane has been used as a crane until 1996 and has been remodelled to be used as a hotel. This remodelling has been done with much accuracy and consideration, which you will definitely enjoy! It is a very modern design (to fit the environment) and includes a touch screen control center, a DVD player (including a lovely selection of DVDs) and a huge screen, a very spacey elevator, a shower for two with 5 possible illumination choices....., the possibility to turn the crane 360° and enjoy the views from each and every angle.

The people in charge are VERY nice (I talked to two different ladies on the phone and our crane lady was just wonderful!) and very reliable, the breakfast was out of this world, there is a mini bar, flowers on the table, fruit next to the bed - well, I better stop here, otherwise I will break down crying why this had to end......
