This is a picture of the park Berg-en-Bos. It is a park with a forest and a lake. The most interesting part of it is the wild park of Apenheul, an incredible area where different species of apes, monkeys and other kinds of animal roam free among the visitors. A great experience (I have gone there many times and I enjoy it more and more).

You could go to the entertainment parc 'Koningin Juliana Toren' (Queen Juliana Tower), an amusement parc with more than 35 attractions. It is just across the street of 'Het Loo'.
More information on Apeldoorn can be found on Apeldoorn site, in Dutch but I think you can get around just fine. When Wilhelmina and Hendrik wed in 1901, the people of Apeldoorn gave this obelisk to the royal couple.
It's right at the end of the 'Loolaan' and it s 20 metres high.
Bench

Here and there you will see benches. You can sit here and rest. Or enjoy the sun. Most likely you will see older people sitting on these benches, enjoying the streetscenery/talking to each other/sun.
Visit our market
by vtveen
Although most cities in the Netherlands have there own market(s), I think Apeldoorn is THE market town in the country.
There are several markets on every weekday on different places. The main market is on Saturday on the market square and has a couple of hundred market vendors.
The Saturday market has a lot of food vendors with vegetables, fruit, cheese, eggs, fish and even meat. Also there are a lot of flower- and plant booths.
Monday market, also on the market square counts more fabric booths.
The others are much smaller and not very interesting for tourists.
When you visit Apeldoorn on a Monday or Saturday don't leave the town without taking a look at our market. A typical Dutch custom.
Directions:
Marktplein (Market Square), in front of the new town hall in the centre of Apeldoorn.
Parking garage: under the square
Apeldoorn, also outside the palace, quite royal
by Pavlik_NL
Apeldoorn is, because of the royal palace, a town that radiates royalty. Not only the royal family had their the palace, but anyone that was in contact with or had anything to do with, build extravagant villa's and mansions in Apeldoorn. A drive through town shows many wonderful houses in a green foresty environment. Only the new suburbs are like those of other towns in The Netherlands.
