De Wildrust: Sentimental value
I used to go here with my family every fall when I was young. We stayed in a small holiday home and spend every day walking in the forest, looking for wildlife and eadible toadstools. The campground is really small, most of the space is taken up by caravans, but there's room for a few tents. The holiday home I used to stay in has been turned into a toiletbuilding.
You can walk from the campground straight into the forest. You're also a couple of minutes away from the Veluwe nature park.

We stayed at a bungalow parc...
We stayed at a bungalow parc called 'Center Parcs Kootwijkerbroek' . The parc nowadays has a different name and I think it's not in the hands of Center Parcs anymore. But you can't miss it it's the biggest bungalow parc in Kootwijk.
There is a swimmingpool at the parc, you can go cycling around, you can rent a horse, play tennis, hire a boat etc.

I have only stayed one time in...
I have only stayed one time in Apeldoorn, and you do not really need to stay here to visit Apenheul or Het Loo, because Netherlands is so small, that you get there very fast from almost any part of the country. Somehow, the night I stayed there it seemed that all the hotels were fully booked (there are not many hotels anyway). The only place where we could find accomodation was this guest house called 'Abbewerk'.
Anyway, in spite of the lack of comfort, I must say that the price was very cheap: only € 59 for a double room.
The guest house looks very nice from outside, but there is not a lift and the staircase was very narrow. It was a problem to carry our lugage because we were in the last floor and there was not a porter either. The room was not very nice, and the bathroom was tiny. NO SHOWER-PLATE but a hole in the floor!!

Pension Bella Vista: Good inexpensive accommodation
It's north of the town, through a pleasant park. Very good value, charming owner (no English and I have no Dutch so we had to get by in German). Rooms spacious and good breakfast, and talk about immaculate, this must be the cleanest accommodation I have ever stayed in.
Ground floor decor rather striking, rooms comfortable and pretty.
