Arnhem
by Gili_S
I visited Arnhem few times during the 80’s and recently for one day only. It is not big and not small city. I like the nightlife in the centre of the city, especially during the summer days. There are few interesting sites to visit here and for more information you can visit the official site:

Snack Break On Route
by 36waterfalls
Don't worry if you don't feel like carrying a bag full of goodies along. There are plenty of opportunities to take a break and get a bite to eat in these parks.
You'll come across them on route...
Coming Soon...Hopefully

You may spot this house right by the entrance to the Sonsbeek Park. As I was told by Pavlik_NL soon it is going to be a Water Museum. How soon? Nobody knows, but it's a great idea of creating such a museum.
Unfortunately, Arnhem doesn't promote itself as a tourst destination on an international level, that is why there is almost no infromation in Eglish that can be found in Internet.
VT is lucky to have Paul as a member here, if you have any questions about this city just give him a shout. I'm sure he'll be glad to help.
Bridges, connecting North and South
by Pavlik_NL
Bridges are of ultimate importance to any town that has a river running in between it's neighborhoods. Already more then a century the steel bow bridge connects Arnhem with the roads to Nijmegen and further South, but with building whole townparts on the other side of the Rhine (after WW 2) Arnhem needed more bridges to keep the traffic going. Therefor a new bridge was build and later on also the ringroadbridge. Now Arnhem has (not naming the railwaybridge) three riverbank connections:
* the John Frost or "Old" bridge (the famous "bridge too far")
* the Nelson Mandela bridge or "Roermondsplein" or simple "New bridge
* the Andrei Sacharov or "Pley" bridge
On the picture it's the "new" bridge that - if you look correctly has enormous letters glued on it's concrete sides. The letters state words like "Blauwe Lucht" (=blue sky), "De Zee" (the sea), "Indonesië" (= Indonesia) and "De Utopie" (= the utopia). This is a left over from one of the Sonsbeek Art-festivals, that are held every 4 years in Arnhem.
