Travel Tips for Harderwijk
Marine Animal Shows...
by Xinta
Visiting Dolfinarium is really something that brings you close to nature, and you get to learn something about the animals. Here, you'll find out that marine animals can be really intelligent creatures. The show is simply amazing and there are really cute and funny, too! One of the best dolphin and walrus show that I ever watched!
Living on and with the water
by Pavlik_NL
When the IJsselmeer still was the Southern Sea, it was one of the most dangerous and unpredictable places for fishremen in Europe. The waves could get very high and winds could turn from one to the other moment. Women and children, waiting ashore had then the terrifying fear that the sea would again take casulaties and maybe their husband/father would be one of them.
Fishermen were no rich people and the lived in small houses. On various places in Harderwijk they still stand. On the in-between-harbour, in front of a row of these little houses, a little statue near the bridge to the windmill remind of this terror. A white little figure of a woman and child looking over the water towards the sea ... that now-a-days has been tamed by the land.
Get off the mainroads and dive into little alleys
by Pavlik_NL
The innertown of Harderwijk is still like it was in medieval times. The shoopingroads might be wide and busy and the little alleys that lead away somewhat uninviting, but here's where the real little secrets of Harderwijk are to be found. Especially around the old citywalls, little alleys run along this old defensive line and display wonderful little corners where it seems that the time has stood still for over a couple of centuries at least.
Harderwijk small town with interesting history
by catnl
Harderwijk is an old small town in the provence of Gelderland since prehistoric times.
One can see periodes like prehistoric and medieval times back in the streets of Harderwijk.
This town nowadays is famous mostly because of the Dolfinarium.
impression of the Dolfinarium
underwater scenes of dolphins and walrusshow at the Dolfinarium
Its also a great place for surfing
City of Dolphins,seals etc.!
by Roeffie
The most famous attraction of Harderwijk is Dolfinarium. A big park with dolphins, seals and other sea animals.
Harderwijk is a former Fishing town at the IJsselmeer, formerly the Zuiderzee. It has a nice old towncenter, worth visiting.
Fish eating is a thing to do here, there are many fish restaurants and fish stands and for watching fish and other sealife you visit the Dolfinarium.
Greetings Roeffie
