Berkenhorst is a bungalow park on the Veluwe, the largest national park in the Netherlands. The park has good facilities such as a tropical swimming paradice, restaurant, bike rental. The park is quite and situated in the forrest. The bungalow are avarge, good tv, good kitchen and good beds. The bathroom is very wet (moisture) that is the main disadvatage. For kids 2 years old and younger the room the play at the bungalow is quite small no real garden. The some playgrounds are not maintained too well and fairly small. I would rate the park as GOOD for a weekend or midweek stay.
The area where the park is situated is excellent for hiking and biking. Nature is beautiful here!
Now-a-days the village survives with some agriculture in combination with tourism. All around Kootwijk are cottages for rent, many farmhouses offer farm stays or bed & breakfasts and campgrounds are numerous in the Kootwijk surroundings. These ways of staying are also best for the environment and offer great ways to be one with the surrounding nature.
