Bed and Breakfast Cato is located at walking distance from the center of Nijmegen. In 10 minutes you can walk from the B&B to the famous Valkhof.
Parking is only 2 euros per day with the special parking license for visitors!
The B&B is located in a nice old house dating back to 1900.
Cato has two recently renovated and refurbished rooms. In fact, we were the first guests to stay in room #2 during the Queensday weekend in April 2012! The owner, named Gerard, was very friendly without being pushy.
The rooms have their own toilet, sink and shower. There's also a minibar (which may be a bit noisy during the night, but can be easily turned off).
You can prepare your breakfast whenever it suits you in the kitchen, which is shared between the two rooms. Breakfast was provided as pre-baked breads, which you can bake yourself for a few minutes in the oven, cheese, meat, eggs, sweets, etc. You can make coffee or tea as well. The microwave and fridge/freezer can also be used by the guests.
There's free WiFi, but don't forget to ask for the name of the network and the password.
The rooms of the Bed and Breakfast conveniently have their own entrance, separated from the rest of the house.
In 2012 the prices were: 60 euro per night for 2 persons, 50 euro per night for 1 person, kids 20 euro extra.
Note that the rooms can also be rented for a longer time and reduced price!
We had a very pleasant time in this brand-new and very reasonably priced B&B and recommend this place to everybody!
The flat-screen TV in the room has a DVD player, in case you choose to stay at home instead of spending the evening in one of the many bars of Nijmegen.
I stayed here for one night after travelling from Eindhoven.
The hotel was raesonable enough which suited our needs. It had a good central location and was only a short walk to the local bars and restaurants.
We didn't have the breakfast in the hotel but decided to have coffee overlooking the Waal Road Bridge.
Parking was free in the street nearby, if you were parking out of peak hours.
We stayed at Umberto's Hotel Restaurant in Njmegen. Actually it is in Wijchen which is a short drive out of Nijmegen. Umberto's is in a quiet location (ask for a room away from the road though) and very comfortable. They have free high speed internet access, and are cheaper than other Nijmegen hotels. There is a restaurant, whichw as good but expensive - but there are several other restaurants and cafes across the road.
We also found some pleasant walks towards Nijmegen, and out into the countryside around.
You need to drive into Nojmegen (unless you have a bike) but the savings make it worthwhile. I'd especially recommend this to business travellers as a cheaper hotel than usual in the area.
Nijmegen hotels are expensive and tend to charge extra for high speed internet access. Umberto's was cheaper, and had high speed internet free. The rooms are much larger than the nearest alternative (the Bastion, whose rooms are really small). It is also near a clusyter of restaurants and cafes so it is easy to find cheap meals.
Very nice old house in a quiet area, very good beds and "lekker ontbijt" (delicious breakfast). Friendly housekeeper but quite busy :-)
If you are looking for a 4 star hotel accommodation in one of the quiet but beautiful ancient woodlands close to Nijmegen I advise you to go to the Golden Tulip Hotel Val- Monte. I know that I?m doing my internship at this chain and that I?m slightly subjective when we are talking about hotels. But the view from the hotel terrace is amazing you can see Ooy and Duffelt polders 90 meters lower down!
This hotel has a distinct classic modern feel. French cuisine is served in the 'A La Carte' restaurant where the menu changes seasonally. There is a terrace, bar/foyer, indoor pool, recreation room and an arboretum. Bicycles are available for hire, an ideal way to explore what this area has to offer.
After having danced tango all night long at el Corte..you can sleep there a few hours...on the dance floor or on matras if you arrive very soon on the chained salon weekend.
3 footh bassins, one shower with view on the main room, ...
There are plenty Hotels, pensions and campings.
For information you can visit the page of the Nijmeegse Tourist office.
There is also a internet cafe.
For the 3rd time this beautifull restaurant was burned down. What a loss!
A nice very little hotel with view on thee river Waal in the countryside, but not far from Nijmegen centre, which can easily be reached by car, bike or taxi.
It's only an 11 room hotel, wtih a great athmosphere, especially when the terrace fills up on a summerday with lots of cyclists drinking a cup of coffee.
An old traditonal hotel at the dyke with a very nice view on the river Waal. It is a monument of itselve with nice authentic rooms. Close distance to Nijmegen and still in the beautiful nature of the Ooypolder.
