"Putten"
You can find Putten in the centre of the Netherlands. Its a small place with around 20.000 people...11000 houses. Putten became famous because of the 2nd war. October '44 was the month for Putten. Because someone killed a german officer 100 people from Putten were distributed to Germany, olmost all of them died.
Putten is great for sight seeing. Soon I will put more pictures into this map so you can see the beauty of Putten.

"Fat Alices Restaraunt"
One of the best meals I had at a restaraunt in Putten. Advertised as "Cajun" American style. But like everywhere else that tries to recreate a regional dish........not really like you'd get in the southern U.S.
But it was still _really_ good. I had ribs. Very tasty and almost more than I could eat!
The decorations were unique to say the least. I don't think that some of it would be acceptable in the U.S. I didn't have a problem with it. There was no ill intent to be sure. Some people in the U.S. are just too thin skinned. But it did give us an opportunity to discuss it, laugh, and take a couple of pics!
"The Carriage Ride"
We took a nice little horse drawn carriage ride with the extended family on the afternoon of the 40th anniversary party planned for that night (Aug. 30). 20/25 of us rode throught the forest for and hour or so to a nice little converted farm for an afternoon snack of coffee/drinks and cakes. Then a one hour or so trip back. It was a nice way to get together with everyone we'd come so far to see and extend our time with them.
One of the main streets of Putten. This must have been on Sunday because it was usually pretty crowded out here. Nice scattering of bars, restaurants, and shops for daily living. Of course the Hema was near here too.
