Warm Stroopwafels
Of course you can buy stroopwafels in any size in any supermarket throughout the Netherlands. But if you're in Groningen, try one of the 'fresh' made warm stroopwafels at the market at the "Groote Markt". They are delicious.

Hello,
we´re three +30-years old laid-back guys to visit in Groningen in Easter -09. I was wondering whatkind of openhours are there in coffeeshops in general and does the Easter affect to openhours somehow?
Is there many Clubs with live-music in Groningen and wich do you recommend? Recommend also good / inexpensive restaurant(s) near by city-center.
Many thanks in advance,
Jertishny

Hello Jertishny. What is your idea of good/inexpensive? Or rather: what kind of prices are you used to?

Party at the Three Sisters. Huge . Multiple bars. Various types of music to dance to on many floors. Beautiful people all around. Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol! My best memory of Groningen was riding on the 'book rack' of my buddies bike as we cruised through town in a terrential rain storm trying to get home from one of the local 'coffee shops.'
When walking through Groningen you encounter many pieces of art. Some statues are recognised instantly, but others do make you think.
If you want to know more about the statues there are organised tours with an expert.
See the website: http://www.burohba.nl/excursie/
Or book through the v v v.
Everywhere in the station building you can see signs that refer to times long gone by. Like this one for example in the main entrance. On the sign it says: "Wachtkamer 1e en 2e klasse, damessalon" = "Waiting room first and second class, ladies waiting room". They used to have separate classes for the waiting room. I just like all these little details, showing how different life was many years ago.
When you turn around from the "Smiling face", you will be going from the new times back to the old again. The clash between historic and modern seems to be at its maximum in this part of Groningen. Behind the lion sculpture you can see part of a wall of the art museum. The weathered look of the lion in combination with the smooth metal surface and strict lines behind it gives an interesting contrast.
