We made a reservation in a hotel in Aduard, but due to an overbooking we were transferred to ‘De Gastheerd’ (or Guesthouse), also in Aduard. Afterwards we were very happy with it, because the hotel didn’t have too much charm. Completely different from the B&B, which is situated in an old (19th century) gentleman’s farmhouse.
It has 4 bedrooms, which share the spacious and modern bathroom (double wash basins, shower and bath), a breakfast room, which also can be used for reading a book or preparing the next day trip. It also offers a garden and a kind of orchard and it is possible to rent a bike to explore the surroundings of Aduard/Groningen.
Three spacious rooms are € 68, per night; we had a smaller one and had to pay € 58,-
There is also an self contained apartment in the ‘barn’ behind the main house.
The B&B is for sale on the moment (June 2007), so if you want to stay here, you will have to hurry.
Very good breakfast and very nice hosts (JoAnn and Hans van Seventer).
Excellent location to visit the city Groningen (we did it by bike, but you can also take your car or the bus) and the countryside of north and northwest Groningen. The last few years more and more B & B houses can be found in the province of Groningen.
Grand Hotel 'De Kromme Raake' is worlds smallest hotel and is mentioned in the Guinness book of records.
It has but one room.
This hotel has a real check in counter but just one key. Tom worked a long time in Groningen province. During the week he stayed with the hotel of the family Faber. To come home to the west in the weekends. Sometimes Gonnie joined him on her day off, just to see something more of the great north of our country.
The hotel is a typical family hotel it is run by the family Faber since 1901. It is the fourth generation of Fabers there now.
The bar feels like home with its warm atmosphere. They also have a great restaurant run by Derk (who is a spitting image of Alberdinck Thym, of the childrens program Klokhuis, but cooks a lot better).
The hotel has 18 rooms with in total 33 beds.
There is also room to have a conference or a big party. Hotel Spoorzicht in Loppersum is situated halfway between Gronigen and Delfzijl. It is located in a very charming historic building and a lot of nostalgic elements remind the period before world war II
