A few times, when I was a kid, I travelled by bus. I always argued with my little brother who could push the bell to let the chauffeur know we wanted out on the next stop. Not like now, a real electric bell rung when one pushed the button. So much more fun for a kid than the red lights that are common nowadays.
In 1978 the foundation Northern Bus Museum was founded. That same year the whole of funds - 500 guilders - was spend on the purchase of the first bus: a Gado 4400, build in 1958. GADO stands for Groninger Autobus Dienst en Omstreken, I translate that as much as Groninger Autobus Service and surrounding areas.
The museum can be found in the former GADO-depet. Retired bussed stand next to more modern ones, all are restored into their old grandeur.
The site of the musuem only is in Dutch but if you're really interested: they got pics too! Like the one you see here, I kindly used it to makes this place a bit more colourful.
