Clean, nice hotel, the traditional Limburg building is a bit too "renovated", would have been nicer with more of the ancient elements. Good service, modern rooms.
Unique Quality: Quiet, good access, large (free) parking area.
Directions: Town center, next to the markt place
We came across ‘Herberg De Bongerd’ after ‘Googling’ accommodation for another nearby village. After reading reviews on the internet we decided to make a reservation for just one night.
‘Herberg’ is typical Dutch and means something like ‘inn’. ‘De Bongerd’ is located in an old restored farm house, which had a large orchard in the early days; the inn is named - De Bongerd - after this orchard. Being an inn it is not that big with just 10 rooms. We were welcomed with the traditional warm Limburgian hospitality, which is just different from somewhere else in the Netherlands.
Our room was quite spacious, had good firm beds and a nice spacious bathroom.
We also had dinner in the cosy restaurant of the inn and had a lovely and tasteful three course menu with fish as main course. Breakfast the next morning was served as buffet style and was a very good start of the day with everything you may want and/or need.
De Bongerd is surrounded by terraces, so there is always a place to enjoy the sun.
The biggest surprise of ‘Herberg De Bongerd’ was the price; we paid for our room (with breakfast) just € 65,-. Staying in Beesel might be a very good alternative for the cities of Roermond and Venlo (both about 12 km’s).
Being satisfied with our first stay, 'De Bongerd' becomes a favourite accommodation on our travels to/from Eysden.
Directions: From north or south take 'Highway 73' till exit '18 Beesel/Reuver' and follow the signs for Beesel and 'De Bongerd'. You can not miss the Markt (Market), the central square in the village.
