Hello,
I am a bit desperate as I just found out that my step-son is getting married (in Canada) and I need an outfit for his wedding (which is in a couple of weeks) but I have no idea where I can find formal woman's wear (not necessarily a gown) in the Heerlen/Brunssum/Landgraaf area.
Can anyone please help me out? I am looking for a formal suit outfit.

Try "Lust for Life" in Aachen , huge dept store.
Take bus 44 from Heerlen to the bus station in Aachen, "Lust of life" it is opposite also "Kaufhof Galeria" is good choice

I was thinking of V&D and Bijenkorf, but wasn't sure how much formal stuff they would have. I will definitely try your suggestions, both in Aachen and Maastricht!

V&D as well as Bijenkorf have formal as well as in-formal clothing.
Another place you might like to try in Maastricht is Promiss (same street as V&D, closer to Vrijthof). They have very noce things, formal but not too formal, so easy to wear to a marriage but also easy te wear afterwards.

ATLC's advice about Maasmechelen Village is a great tip !
They have all kinds of stores of a lot of brands at discount rates.
Collections are mostly last season, but a formal suit outfit is timeless ...

Just visited Bataviastad yesterday and I just knew this Roermond place excists.

The country has more bicycles than residents... Can you believe that there are more than 40.000 km of cycling routes? Special cycling maps are available from local touristic offices.
You can rent them almost anywhere, a proverb says that "a Dutch without a bike is like a fish without water". Heerlen is a typical cycling town.
