Probably my least favourite hotel.

The Hotel De La Bourse is another of those hotels which incorporate a busy restaurant/bar on the ground floor. I stayed at several such establishments during my 2009 trip and never felt, as a hotel guest, that I was considered second best to the patrons of the restaurant. Sadly, at ths hotel, it was quite obvious that the accommodation side of the business was indeed secondary to the restaurant. The young man who checked me in was quite obviously not happy about having to leave the patrons he was serving in the bar to attend to me.

Unique Quality: The room was small, as was to be expected, and the bathroom was no bigger than a closet which was also to be expected but the worst part was the bed. I am quite happy sleep in a single bed, but this one was smaller than single and it was placed in the middle of the room, so I felt in danger of falling out every time I turned over. The room was very clean and the view was great as the hotel is situated right beside the Town Hall. Breakfast was really good (included in the price of 65 euro per night) and even featured hot bacon and scrambled eggs. Even so, I don't think I would stay there again. I can't rightly say why I have no pics of the hotel itself, but I do have some that were taken from my room.

Cosy hotel in the citycentre at the Markt

For the VT meeting in august 2005 I was looking for a cheap hotel in the citycentre of Maastricht. At virtualtourist I found the link www.gtahotels.com, offering the cheapest hotel with a double room with private toilet and shower for about 60 euro (breakfast buffet included).

The hotel is in the middle of the historical citycentre right next to the historical townhall. It has a cafe-restaurant and terrace at the Markt. To reach our room we had to climb the stairs to the third flour, but they said there will be an elevator within a year.

We parked our car in front of the hotel at the Markt. Though very crowded at saturday afternoon, we found a parking place for 2.20 euro a hour, but after 6 pm and at sundays its free parking. So we decided to leave our car there (paying for four hours). There is also a parking garage nearby.

Unique Quality: Cheap hotel close all the historical places in town and easily to reach by car.
