    Might have its drawbacks.

    by

The Golden Tulip Apple Park Maastricht is a hotel with modern-art décor and is situated on the outskirts of Maastricht in scenic green surroundings. Besides the rooms it also offers a fitness room and tranquil garden terrace. There is also a restaurant called Dreamz. It has bar serves and à la carte cuisine for dinner and lunch throughout the week and at weekends. It also has an extensive wine menu. We didn't make use of the breakfast, because we thought it was way too expensive. Paying €90,- for a double room and than have to pay €17,50 per person for a breakfast is beyond comparison in our opinion. Go to the city center and the pubs will offer full continental breakfast for a lower price. for that matter, just visit the nearby McDonalds and have a breakfast for €5,25.

But anyway Virtual Tourist is all about advising people and I hope that's what this has done. It's not just about what you want in an hotel it's what you want it for, and for business it's probably very good, for pleasure it might have its drawbacks. We would recommend to you.

Unique Quality: Free WiFi and very friendly staff.

Directions: The hotel is very accessible coming form the highway A2, sign will lead the way.

    Well-equipped design rooms.

    by

Like I said, the staff told us all about the hotel during our check in. We learned about the parking facilities, the taxi fare, where to park the car (either paid or for free), the breakfast, use of the elevator, et cetera. Finally we received a note with the password for the free WiFi access, always a good service. In a folder I read that the Golden Tulip Park Maastricht has 166 rooms ... time for us to have a look at our own room.

We stepped into our comfortable, well-equipped design room and were pleasantly surprised by it. I immediately tried the high speed wireless internet access. We also spotted an individually adjustable air-conditioning system and three (!) telephones including voice mail service. Of course there was free and Pay TV, electronic safes, extra long beds (2.10 meters), hairdryer and bathroom including bath / shower and lavatory. I must say that everything was very neat and very clean and the rooms are spacious. The windows are sound proof, so we didn't hear any noise coming from the outside. Being situated at the 7th floor is also a pleasure, having some nice views at the city itself, the MVV football stadium and the hills.

Unique Quality: Free WiFi and very friendly staff.

    Not nearby the historical centre.

    by

At the time we decided we wanted to pay the city of Maastricht a visit we looked at the internet for a nice B&B in the center of Maastricht. We found quite a few good options and started to make some phone calls and writing some emails, just to check the availability. The weird thing was that most of B&B's didn't even answer our emails and the one we called were either already full or decided to stop the business. Therefore we did a new search for a nice hotel in the city. We learned that the entire city of Maastricht has only 45 hotels to stay, not very much for such a large and important touristic city. But anyway we ended up at the Golden Tulip Apple Park Maastricht that says on their website that it's located "nearby Maastricht's historical city centre". Be aware, because this isn't true!

Still we arrived at the Golden Tulip Apple Park Maastricht which actually is situated in a green environment. We could leave our car in the closed-circuit security car park (you have to pay for this), so we decided to park the car a 200 meters further for free. During our check in we were advised to use their special taxi service to get to the city center. This only costs €10,- for a single transport, not too bad of course. When we went into our room at the 7th floor we could see that the hotel is situated centrally of the of the South Limburg hill country.

Unique Quality: Free WiFi and very friendly staff.
