With its Moroccan-theming this is certainly an interesting hotel visually. The decor in the downstairs bar/restaurant where you check-in and have breakfast borders on the psychedelic but artistically so. One wall is covered in beaten tin panels whilst the rest are purple-painted with a colourful riot of hanging artworks and mirrors. The ceilings too continue the theme with hanging decorations and an "Eastern eye" looking down through the ornate lighting globes on everything.
Fortunately the rooms are a bit more subtle but still keep a tasteful theming. Bed was comfortable, everything immaculately clean, an electric heater provided adequate warmth and the wired internet worked perfectly - though note that you have to borrow a cable from downstairs.
Unique Quality: For a relatively cheap Maastricht hotel the central location, just off the Markt, is ideal. Also noteworthy was the friendliness of the service throughout with breakfast well worth getting up for and teas and coffees topped up without prompting (or extra charge).
A minor downside is that the hotel is on three floors with a steep and narrow staircase and no lift. But that wasn't a problem for us as we were travelling light and have no mobility problems.
Directions: On a side street just off the Markt, where the town hall is located.
