Travel Tips for Valkenburg

Carved Sculptures

by Imaniac

There aren't only drawings inside the municipal caves, but also a lot of carvings. One of the most prominent ones is a sculpture of a mosasaurus. This was a dinosaur that lived in the river Maas. Imagine how long it would have taken you to make this.

by tompt

This statue is in honor of the Bokkenrijders. The legend tells us it were illusive creatures in real it just was a gang of bandits.

In the 18th century hundreds of people were executed for being a bokkerijder. Their confessions were gained by torture. This great unjustice just made the gang more populair.

In the south of Limburg the stories are still very much alive.

The most beautiful puppet shop in the Netherlands

by Pavlik_NL

Anita's Exclusives is a spectacular shop for puppets in general, but babydolls in particular. The amazing fine works of art sometimes actually do look like being alive and a visit to this shop is an absolute must when strawling thourgh the shopping streets of Valkenburg.

Tapas and more

by tompt about La Casa

We had a quick lunch here. As quick as we could get the sandwich in........
The sandwiches were really large. We had the Chiabatta with Tuna and the Chiabatta La Casa. The La Casa had a spicy minced meat on it, served with garlic sauce.
Both were delicious.

Next visit we will try dinner here.

Meet Snowwhite and the seven Dwarfs!

Themepark Sprookjesbos

A nice themepark for your kids until 8 years of age, not suited for larger kids in my opinion. A kind of tableaus of wellknown fairy tales, a nice play ground, a western town. A wild water ride and karting in a grotto.

I think it's a bit expensive for the time you will spend here, which will be 2 hours at the most, but that is only my humble opinion!
