The local VVV (tourist info) is housed in a special building. It dates back to 1661, when the spanish court was housed here. The Geul was the border between the Spanish empire and the united dutch republic. So the spanish needed an official court on the border.
The touristinfo is housed here since 1964.

The Cauberg in Valkenburg is a famous climb in different classic bicycle races.
The Amstel Gold Race is climbing here several times during the day.
And Valkenburg was host to the world championships more than once.

Franciscanessenklooster

An old monastery at the edge of the village is now a provincial monument. The church of the former Franciscanessenklooster is still in use by the protestant church. It is not open for visitors other then during services every sunday.
The monastery was built in 1863.
Lourdes Caves

Just a few meters away from the Municipal Caves, on the Cauberg you'll find the Lourdes Cave. It is an exact replica of the one in France. You can come her to pray or light a candle, and there are also ceremonies held during the week.
Chairlift and toboggan ride!

The only chairlift going up a hill and only toboggan run in the Netherlands as fa as I know.
So this is a unique event to do! People won't believe you as you say I came done a Dutch Hill in a toboggan sled!
Very nice to do go up with the chairlift and make a few rides It's sheer fun.
