A LITTLE BIT ABOUT VALKENBURG
by LoriPori
Nestled in the hills of Zuid Limburg is the charming town of VALKENBURG. Cosy restaurants, shops, sidewalk cafe's and historic buildings define the face of the town. The Geul River runs through Valkenburg.
People from all over come to this tourist town. I believe many Dutchies have visited Valkenburg at least once in their life, including Hans. They all come to experience the party atmosphere that the town provides and to perhaps enjoy the Casino, people-watch from the many sidewalk cafe's, or in the winter participate in the Christmas festivities. In December the town centre is illuminated and a Christmas Market is held at the nearby caves.

funerals
by tompt
It seems every time we visit Valkenburg somebody has died. Most times we see a funeral procession go by on their way to the cemetary. It is a custom the family and friends walk behind the car with the coffin.
What to do?
Just behave appropiate and show some respect, don´t cross the procession and be quiet for a while.

another italian
by tompt about Lignano
In the main restaurant and barstreet De Grote Straat you will find a nice italian restaurant. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a huge wallpainting near the entrance.
We tried the 3 pastas for two. Three different pastas were brought to our table and altough we thought it were small dishes we could finish it all. The taste was different for all three, but there was one we liked the most: the pasta with cheese-tomato sauce.
After dinner Tom drank an espresso, but Gonnie don't like coffee and ordered a tea. To her surprise she had a choice of 84 different flavours. What a tough choice.....
Dino monstercave
by tompt
The prehistorische monstergrot :
A cave with dinosaur statues. Only open in summer. a great kids attraction.
Since 2005 the prehistoric monstercave is closed! The dinosaur statues and neanderthal objects are moved to the Valkenier. They will form a new attraction in the amusentspark. The amusentpark for younger children has the same owner as the monstercave. The price of the amusentpark is not raised.
The cave itself is owned by the municipality and it is not known yet what is going to happen here.
