does anybody know if there are decent connections by railway between Bruxelles and Bergen op Zoom ; I know there are lot of trains from Bruxelles to Antwerp but not sure if any chance to go next to Bergen
on the other hand there are lot of direct trains from Amsterdam but the flight connections are worse from my homeplace

There are common Intercity trains running almost each hour during daytime.
Total travel time just over 1.5 hours.

It there is nothing else to do in Bergen op Zoom and you still have time left you can always go to the swimming pool at the Binnenschelde. The name of that swimmingpool is "de Schelp". It's nothing special but..........if you like swimming........
This is really an off the beaten path activity! If you want to see something special, then go to the carnival in Bergen op Zoom. All the people - baby's, kids, adults - are dressed in the traditional carnaval costume which means: a hat (this can be a regular hat or a lamp shade, whatever you want), a red handkerchief around your neck (the knot tied in front = very important!!), some curtains around your shoulders or waist and there you go.
TIP: be fit because this celebration lasts for 4 consecutive days. Be prepared to lots of beer also. :)
Around the villa you can make a nice walk and see the beauty of the garden of this place. It's not possible to visit the inside of the villa....... You can reach this place by car or bicycle, it's a few km to the south from the town centre.
The 'Grote Markt' is the central place to be in Bergen op Zoom. You will find here the cityhall, the oldest hotel in the Netherlands 'de Draak', theatre 'de Maagd', and many bars and restaurants...
From the Grote Markt you can also see the tower from the St. Gertrudis-church. During the holiday season it's possible to climb the tower en enjoy the view over the city.
