Breda
by Gili_S
Breda is a lovely middle size Dutch city. There are few interesting sites to visit, nice old city and active culture and nightlife. I visited here only for one weekend, the timing was perfect for me as it was a football weekend, so I enjoyed it even more.

The old town

visit the old city centre. As with so many cities in the southern Low Countries, there is a big market square with a huge church beside it, and Breda is definitely no exception. What makes this market special, however, is that there's no traffic allowed, giving room to all the terraces is summer. The Grote Kerk or Church of Our Lady is one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands, and the Spanjaardsgat (pic) is a beautiful remnant of the old fortifications. Barhopping! Within the city centre, Breda has the highest density of bars and clubs of all main cities in Holland. Combined with the attitude of the people here (they're more easygoing here than in the north), what more could you ask for?
Castle Bouvigne
by MATIM
I work in Breda and this castle is my neighbour,
isn't that great!
It is called castle Bouvigne and it dates from around 1425 Directions to the castle:
by train: to central station Breda, after that by train taxi or city bus to Golden Tulip hotel Mastbosch.
By car: from Utrecht A27, turn Breda/Bavel. Follow the sign Mastbos?de Klokkenberg.
After the tunnel you enter traffic lights, after the traffic lights turn Mastbos? de Klokkenberg.
Left down the turn, follow this road about 500m, continue this road to the woods.
From Rotterdam: A16, turn Breda/Rijsbergen, after that turn Mastbos/de klokkenberg.
to the right down at the turn, follow this road for 500m to the woods.
Carnaval Breda
by Joenes
Carnaval used to be a huge party for the catholics before they started their period of vasting.
But now it is just four days of going completely mad!
People dress up as whatever they feel like, the music is of a special kind and the beer flows and flows and flows.....:-)
Their is also a big parade with huge projects made out of paper and rolling down the streets of Breda.
If you want four days of completely forgetting the world around you come and have fun the way the people of the South of the Netherlands are doing for ages!
Grote Markt
by Nathalie_B
This statue can be found in the middle of the Grote Markt, infront of the famous cafe-bar "Dante". Can't really tell what the statue symbolizes, but actually the tip is about the Grote Markt. It is the main square of the city where most of the cafes, bars and restaurants are situated. Besides that you can find there the VVV - Tourist information office, a small hotel, and the pride of Breda the Church of our Lady
