I second Maastricht one of the nicest cities in the Netherlands!
Vlakenburg small town about 10km south of Maastricht, fill of history and arhitecture.
The white village of Thorne near Roermond all reachable wit train and bus.
In Maastricht you can by EuroRegio Dagkard which cost €5 and you can travel as far as Aachen in Germany, covering Maastricht & Valkenburg as well. Also you can visit the "Dutch Alps" and 3 lends point near Maastricht/Vaals where you can go for walk i the forest as well...
good info on moving around with public transport you can find on :

I third Maastricht.
It's a lovely city with great night life for all ages.
To add to MacedonianUK's reply:
" 3 lends point" is 'Drielandenpunt' where 3 countries share their borders (3 Border Point).
Here's some info on Wikipedia, since other info is either not in English or connected to some restaurant:

Den Bosh (or 's Hertogenbosch)
PJ, PJ, you are not to confuse or fellow travelers! ;-)
Den Bosch (not Bosh) is the correct spelling.
Either that or 's Hertogenbosch, 2 names for the same city. It has a very impressive cathedral. Nice shops and nightlife. Not to mention those delicious 'Bossche Bollen', a huge choux pastry with cream and real chocolate on the outside. Yum.

I'll give you some pointers to travel time.
You can use the national rail website http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers (English) to quickly see how long it takes from station to station.
From Eindhoven it's
1 hr 2 mins to Maastricht
19-27 mins to Den Bosch
36-46 mins to Breda
50 mins to Utrecht
1 hr 20 mins to Amsterdam
1 hr 10 mins to Rotterdam
1 hr 19 mins to Arnhem
less than 2 hrs to Antwerp (Belgium)

Travel Tips for Eindhoven
You may have heard of Philips....
by OlafS
You may have heard of Philips. Eindhoven is where this multinational started. The 'White Lady' is the company's former main office-building. For some stupid reason company director Cor Boonstra, a former coffee-salesman who later turned out to be a criminal, decided to move the whole office to Amsterdam, and now this building is used for other purposes, including the public library.

Indoor-Sportcentrum Eindhoven
by catnl
I used to work at the ?ndoor-Sportcentrum Eindhoven.
This is the most beautifull sportcentre of Europe because of its special wooden roof construction.
They have lots of big events mostly sports, European and worldchampionships so you understand that i liked my job very much.
The city of Eindhoven has everything to offer for any kind of sports and for every age. There are more pics and info about all kind of events at the travelogue at my Netherlands pages.
more pictures On this pictire u can see a part of the wooden roof, this picture i made during one of the events 2 years ago
