Eindhoven
by ZiOOlek
Hi,
I would like to ask:
1. how much should be a taxi from the airport to the centre of Eindhoven (Pullman hotel)?
2. Does anyone knows what is the best way to get from Eindhoven to Brussels? Where to check departures and ticket prices for trains or buses?
3. Do you have some recommendation on a good restaurant for a Valentine's dinner in the city centre? Thanks for help.
Re: Eindhoven

Going by train from Eindhoven to Brussels is a little difficult as there are no lines across the Holland/Belgiujm border in that area. it's necessary therefore to goeither via Maastricht and Liege (a very long way round) or via Dordrecht and Antwerp, almost as far.
A good place to check these connections is www.reiseauskunft.bahn.de but you won't be able to buy tickets there.
The Dutch railway website www.ns.nl will also give you times, prices and ticket sales
It will take about 2hrs 30 minutes by either route. Tickets vary in price from around 19 Euro to 68 Euro depending on which train you take.
Sorry I cannot help with the other questions.

Regarding the airport transfer, take bus 401 to the city centre of Eindhoven (railway station), 20 minutes, 3,30 €.
For trains, you can also check: www.bahn.de (many languages) or www.b-rail.be (belgian raiways)

a taxi will cost you about 15-20 euro i think, by buss its much cheaper and also very regular, coming out of department you can see this bus straight away, line 401
from eindhoven to brussels its possible to take a train: first to roosendaal and then you have to wait 30 min, then you can take the train to antwerp/brussels
it takes about 2,5 hrs traveltime
as for a restaurant, we have so many different ones, in the city or in the districts
what kind of food do you like?
greets carin

Food is not that important - the most importat is the romantic atmosphere of the restaurant. :-)

Culture, nature, sport, technology, nightlife, anything u like, its all present at Eindhoven
Besides being able to meet the requirements of most people concerning entertainment, Eindhoven can also cater to the culinary demands of its inhabitants. There are lots of good restaurants and a number of low-budget places for students that serve good food at a reasonable price. As far as the sports facilities are concerned, Eindhoven has just about everything under the sun.
PSV Eindhoven, which plays its football matches in the Philips Stadium, is of course one of the most renowned Dutch football teams.

Philips is expanding again at Eindhoven and this time a huge High Tech Campus is being build at the area Genneper Parken, Gestel....Ready 2005..
I think in the near future some things will change because of traffic and already some old appartments near this campus are being teared down and new ones will be build soon.
Special bicyclebridge!
This bridge which will be made of a single piece of synthetic material. For a span of 27 metres, this is unique in the world. To cause as little disruption as possible to wild life, the placing of the bridge will be timed with the breeding season in mind. The bicycle bridge is expected to be ready by the end of 2003. http://www.philips.nl/hightechcampus/
A few figures: surface area (new): approx. 170,000 square meters, equivalent to 30 soccer fields, approx. 70,000 square meters renovation and approx. 15,000 square meters facility buildings. The size of the total site is about 910,000 square meters. Construction was started in 1999; it will be finished in 2005. By then, the Campus will comprise around 25 new and 6 renovated buildings. 650 million euros will have been invested.

I dont really like it, one good kiss should be enough i think, but hey its custom so...
Hospitality is were the "brabander" is famous for. There is an expression: eenbrabants kwartiertje, meaning people dont always care about time so sometimes "brabantse nachten zijn lang", meaning it can get late when visiting here:-)
