Bang the lamps

For some reason, everybody in De Koffer (see my tip on restaurants) starts hitting the lamps that are hanging over the bar once they are sufficiently inebriated. I know that every pub in Holland has a bell and when you ring it you have to pay a round for everybody, but I don't think this has anything to do with it. It is a funny sight though; all along the bar are drunk people sitting in the shifting shadows of the swinging lamps.

Heeze is a picturesque little village near Eindhoven in the South-East of the Netherlands. It has a 17th century castle, old farms, woods, moorlands, a good delicatessen, 2 churches, Vincent van Gogh lived here and the bikepaths to surrounding villages are great for rollerblading or cycling.
