Festival Mundial
by Imaniac
Festival Mundial is a yearly event that features all kinds of music, but especially world music. At the end of the festival there is always a 2 day music fest with a lot of performances. Last year I saw some great bands like Noa and Orchestra Baobab. There's also a multicultural market, and the necessary 3rd world awareness. And of course the food is excellent. This year the end fest takes place on June the 14th and 15th. Sergeant Garcia and Lucky Dube are among the performing artists.
The event takes place at the Leijpark, next to the St Elisabeth Hospital. there are shuttle busses running to the festival from the train station. Tickets cost less than 10 Euro for 1 day.

Rent a bike
by OlafS
Rent a bike (or a car if you insist) and visit some of the nice old villages in the area. Oirschot is an absolute winner here, with a few very special churches and monumental buildings (see the picture!). Hilvarenbeek is always worth a trip too. Visit Oisterwijk the first sunday of July, for the best beer-festival in the Netherlands. The view from my flat. To the west I could see the tower of the Great Church of Breda, to the east I saw the church of Oisterwijk. Not to forget the view I had over Tilburg itself.

On the Rubens Square in...

On the Rubens Square in Tilburg I pictured this! This is one of the many common squares of Tilburg. Normally they're nothing special, but here, the residents decided to cheer the place up by copying Rubens' paintings on the wall. What a great idea!!!
Packing List

It amazes me to see how many people, tourists and locals alike, insist on drinking bottled water. Come on people, this ain't no Paris! Tapwater in Tilburg is very drinkable. It's even bottled and sold commercially. So save yourselves a few bucks, it's the same liquid.
