The window view from a good hotel
In juny 2001 I stayed at a hotel called Hotel De Compagnie which now seems to be called Albus Grand Hotel.
It was a nice hotel, but the view from the hotel room window really made it all disgusting. I can't believe that the three stars in the hotel rating doesn't reflect the things just outside the window, a view like this doesn't make the stay feel that safe. Check the picture yourself, which actually not shows everything.

Hotel in Amsterdam
Hi there - looking for recommendations for a hotel for a gang of 30-somethings off to Amsterdam for a weekend. We'd like something central - near some nice pubs and restaurants etc - but not too close to the action if you know what I mean :-)
Budget approx 100 a night per room but prepared to pay more if necessary
Somebody said we should stay near Leidesplein - and somebody else said near Seven Bridges .. any advice welcomed

There are two nice places near the Concert Hall... easy walk to Leidesplein and most everything else. I think they're listed under AMS hotels if you Google. We stayed at the Concert Hall Inn last October. It wasn't luxurious, but it was very quiet and served the purpose.
There are lots of good restaurants nearby... great Indonesian at Sama Sebo near the Rijksmuseum.

I stayed in Amstel Botel when I was in Amsterdam. It is not too expensive, its centrally located and an experience on its own.

Hi mate - we stayed at an AMS hotel just off leidesplein
The are is OK its about a 20 minute walk to the "Lively bit" but as it was raining when we were there we jumped ona tram which was really convinient.

Seven bridges is OK but only has 16 beds.
You better look into the bigger hotels like:

Yes - the Art Gallery Hotel is very central - opposite the Rijksmuseum and just a couple of minutes from the Leidseplein - I have stayed there on numerous occasions. They do a great breakfast too!

Just realise that Amsterdam is not that big. So location is not of the utmost importance, especially with the dense tram system. Have fun!

Just to let you know ... ended up staying in an apartment called Le Coin. Really recommend it as more spacious than typical A'dam hotel rooms - and Queens Day blew my mind - in many ways *lol&
