 | Amsterdam Reviews | Tips 1181 - 1190 of 1197 | | For travelers on a budget, the campground at Zeeburg is a welcome option while visiting Amsterdam. It has spaces for tent campers for as low as 4Euros a night and you can rent "cabins" (really just sheds with bunkbeds and electricity, but comfortable in fair weather) for as little as35E a night. From Centraal Station, you can reach Zeeburg Campground by boarding Tram 14 and riding it to the end of the line at Flevopark, a natural wetland park which also has a big public swimming pool. From the tram stop at the park, you walk across a large bridge to the campground which is just beside the other end of the bridge. The area is cooled by sea breezes in the summer. The campground also has a dining facility, a small store for convenience items, hot showers and even a bicycle rental service. The beautiful garden.the building in which Hotel Arena is accommodated, dates from 1890.Many of the rooms for 2, 3 or 4 persons have recently been renovated. You will find Hotel Arena on the edge of Amsterdam's historical centre. The peaceful Oosterpark is right next door. The hotel is easily reached, both by car and public transport. There is a parking area on the grounds. I stayed in the " Bed & Breakfast Amsterdam" Sloterkade 65-1 - 1058 HH which lies on the Schinkel canal, opposite the antrance to vondelpark. I really recomend this B&B, the welcome was really warm, & the place is spotless. At the time of my stay which was jul 2006 they didn`t accept payment by card, it was cash only! & non smoking GETTING THERE:- from outside A`dam central railway station, get tram line 1 untill OVERTOOMSE SLUIS cross the canal, & turn left, facing the bridge, there is a bar & the B&B is next door but one. Aternatively, it is only 15min away from the airport by car, on the A10 ring road RATES:- average double room per night = 85euros not per person
The B&B is a 2min walk from the beutifull Vondell park, this is well worth exploring, & if you walk straight through the park, the " Roemer Visscherstraat" exit will lead you to Liedseplien which is where most of the action is in the evening. This is the place for bars & restaurants & just chilling out! Theme: Bed and BreakfastPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 0031-206792753Website: veneer.com

This is the only place we stayed in Amsterdam. We found it on the Internet and were not disappointed. That being said, it is a 17th century building without a lot of modern amenities. There is no air conditioning so we slept with the windows open. Because of that we were woken up by the occasional late night reveler howling at the moon and had one or two mosquito bites. Personally, I think it was well worth it. There are vanilla hotels everywhere but the charm of hotel Brouwer matched the surroundings perfectly. Family style hospitality and a nice breakfast. I would not reccomend this place to anyone unless you are going to Amsterdam to have an extremly quiet and out of the way break!! the trams to amsterdam city itself stopped at twelve everynight so if u wanted to go out on the town u had to wait til 7 the next morning to get a tram home. then spend a further two hours getting a bus!! the staff were very friendly which got a bit frustrating as being Irish over enthusiatic americans can often be too much and far too fake for my liking!! the caravans were tiny!! i shared a double with my boyfriend at the time and we barely had a good night sleep in five days...there was also alot of flies swarming the room, and a draft from the plastic windows which was not very pleasant as it was thunder and lightening at the time we stayed there in August. there was a communal tent, however the flie problem was also a factor there and it was very dark and empty once the sun set. there is a lake but it is frequented by the richer inhabitants of the area which made us feel uncomfortable as we were staying in such bad quarters. we were the peasants of the park!!!! the closest town was a bike journey away which was plwasant, however the town itself was a tad strange....the occupants seemed like they were living in a time warp and the buildings looked like those on a film set...it was weird!!!!!!
we had a pretty bad experience as one night we went to the city and got lost on the way back to lucky lake...we ended up on the side of a motorway and thankfully there was an inn nearby where we could call a cab which cost a bomb and struggled to find the location. we ended up getting cack at ten in the morning after a long night out..we were disshevelled, freezing and down 50 euro!!! besides the staff i would strongly advise people to avoid this place. the website has falsely advertised that it is close to the city but this is definitly not true. there are no bars or restaurants close by so if ur looking for fun this is not the place to stay. I will mention one nice restaurant thought in Holendrecht..it was a chinese restaurant and it was tastey but that is about the only good thing i can say!!!!!! I had been to Amsterdam twice before the last visit when we stayed in the old quarter hotel, There was 14 of us and we were made to feel very welcolme, the rooms have a great view over the canal (doubles that is ). The bar is a great meeting place and aslo a great place to end your night, the location couldnt be any better everything you need is right on your doorstep. I am now going to book again for the end of may as i enjoyed the hotel that much!! highly recomended
like i have mentioned the views from the double room are really nice and chilling you can watch the canal trips going in and out and generally watch the world go by !! Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: 22 warmoestrattPhone: 31 206266429Website: oldquarter.com
