 | Amsterdam Reviews | Tips 51 - 60 of 1196 | | Easy check-in /check-out with friendly reception staff. I had a small room with small bathroom with shower, TV, and small safe box. It is floating on water, it doesn't move at all so no worry for sea-sick. Game room and cafe/restaurant on board. They hold your luggage before the check-in and after the check-out.
You can pick a room with landview or canal view. If you don't spend much time in a room, choose landview room and save 5 euro. There are single, double/twin, and triple rooms. I don't even know where to begin. We had just arrived from CPH and we didn't have a bed reserved in AMS. We ended up in this seth pit of rancid, loud stink!! Kids of ALL ages running wild, their welcome sign should have been a huge warning ... turn around ... sleep in the park. We booked in to an 8 Bed Dorm for 28E each (there was three of us traveling), you could barely turn around between the beds. We had an ensuite which was ok ... kinda. We returned later in the evening to find human poo on the floor. We called and complained for someone to come clean it. We ended up sleeping the night in this stink, all the while teenagers played nickynickyninedoors down the hall. We changed rooms the following night to a triple for 33E each. Still loud but no poo.
Ha, ha. Now that is funny. It's far out, there are better places closer to Centraal Station. Leave a Comment Theme: HostelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Kerkstraat 136-139, Amsterdam 1017 GR

I chose this hotel online and had just found VT - so had no clue what I was doing. I did well! This hotel is beautiful, and even though I got a discounted room, with no view I might add, the room was a decent size and of wonderful quality. The linens were heavenly too ;) Two grown women traveling to Europe for the first time, with waaay too much luggage, and there was still plenty of room! I have to say the staff was wonderful -definitely customer service professionals. We arrived about 7 hours before check in, hoping to leave our luggage at the desk and begin touring, and we were allowed to actually check in at that time! Every employee of the hotel was friendly, helpful and kind ... a great start to our travels abroad.
The location was perfect. It's across a canal and a road from Centraal Station. A short walk from Red Light, adjacent to Damraak, and a jaunt away from Dam Square. For being clueless, I was so very pleased with everything about this hotel's presentation, location, and service. Leave a Comment

This place is located fairly close to the airport, but a fair way from Amsterdam, but it has good transport links so it was never a problem. Its based in the woods which is really nice, we even spent the last day of our trip just going for a days walk around them coz they were lovely :) We stayed in a wooden hut, which was filled with spiders and other creatures but what can you expect in the outdoors? They were clean and we paid to have the hut to ourselves (they are meant to sleep about 4-5 but you don't share with strangers). There was a hut where you could make food etc and a small shop on site for food. The site also had a pub/cafe which we ate at once which was nice. The shared bathroom facilities were ok, flip flops might be a good tip for the showers (but it always is for shared showers!) We had a great trip here and would recommend it to any outdoorsy types wanting to visit Holland
Located in beatiful woodland (will post more pics up when I get home), really cheap: when we were there it was £7 pppn, different fun place to stay :) We booked this accommodation through Hostelworld.com, although if you contact the site directly they would probably be able to discuss the options of bringing your own tent, or booking one of the better chalets on site so they are worth contacting :) Theme: CampgroundPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Kleine Noorddijk 1, AmsterdamPhone: +31.20.641.68.68Directions: From the airport take bus 199 direction WTC (for about 15 minutes) The bus stop is right in front of the campsite, although this isn't too clear. You will see a sign at the roundabout for Amsterdam Bos. Its the stop up the road from that.Other Contact: info@campingamsterdamsebos.com

The hotel was easy to find and the staff friendly enough - very, very laid back. The website advised to turn right at the airport and then right again at a path then walk 5km to the hotel. We jumped on the train (obviously) and had no issue getting to our 'hostel' accommodation. Our room had several bunks & it was only our group that got put there so we didn't have to worry about upsetting any one else. Priced at 21 euros each for our beds it was a cheap option. There was never a problem with getting in late and in a state........ Our room had both toilet and shower plus our room rate got us breakfast.
The most unique quality of this place was the bacteria advertised out front. Obviously a joke and trying to 'under-promise' on the quality of our bed (see the photo & you will know what I mean - I've got more photo's but this seemed the most appropriate!!). If you want to get away from the pot smoking or alcohol swinging crowd then the Shelter is a nice peaceful haven, one of several Christian hostels in Amsterdam, nice ethics but no religious affiliations are enforced but provides a clean and well run hostel. Single sex dorms from 4 beds to large 20 bed dorms surrounding a lovely garden courtyard with fountain. Good system of security with front door locked and 1am curfew, lockers provided in each room/dorm. Breakfast included, if early breakfast required before their 8am start a packed one can be arranged. Reasonable rates, actually cheaper than most others, and nights are cheaper after the first night of stay. Luggage can be left in the lock up area during the day which is very helpful for pm flights or departures. Meals and snacks, hot and cold drinks can be provided until late at night, so want to come back and put your feet up for a midnight tea with go for it!! 21 euro in a large dorm room, 25 euro in a 4 bed dorm
Good value for the increasing expense that staying in Amsterdam, outside of package deals, seems to now incur for single or budget travellers.
