Picking accommodation via the web is a bit risky, but I made a great choice with the Barangay. They really are walking distance from the station. Run by Wimmo and Godwin I can understand why people keep going back to them. Wimmo is a mine of interesting and useful information on where to go and what to see. Our rooms were very clean, comfortable and warm, my husband and I are from South Africa and feel the cold. Breakfasts were very well presented and with extras, each morning, an egg dish which we had not expected. The fruit was fresh and the yoghurt wonderful.
We arrived early, before our rooms were ready, but Wimmo waited in for us and stored our luggage. When we left, 3 days later, we had the same problem, only getting a train in the late evening, but again no problems, our luggage was happily stored for us, so we could spend an uncluttered day sightseeing.
This was our first visit to Amsterdam and 3 days was too short. If we ever get the chance to return, I know where we will be staying.

The B&B Barangay offers excellent accommodation... very clean and spacious!.. Wimmo and Godwin are great too and its very close to all the attractions so very convenient if you dont want to walk far to get to everywhere... id recommend it to anyone who wants a nice place to see. the breakfasts are top notch and the rooms are very different. enjoy! we did.

Excellent stay in Amsterday, it was queens birthday 2005 and this was a perfect place to stay.
A very warm welcome from Godwin, with maps of all the places to go and what a good location.
The Queens birthday was mad, so many people... wow
We stayed in Barangây's annexe, Its a shame the main house was full but the annexe was really nice and lots of space and was compensated by our hot host Johnny!
tropical hideaway in Amsterdam

a really nice tropical hideaway in the middle of Amsterdam with the nicest hostguys a ever met.
the breakfast is really excellent!!
everytime we visit Amsterdam we stay at the Barangay B+B.
it's very good located....near the railway station and close to the points of interest in Amsterdam.
we love to stay there!!!!!!
Barangay - Always again

We stayed at the Barangay for three nights and it was great.
There are two incredible and really nice hosts who make you feel welcome and comfortable.
The rooms and the bathrooms are very, very clean, convenient and really decorated with love.
You have the possibility to make yourself coffee or tea at the room and there is a refrigerator too.
The breakfest is great...you get al lot of delicious food for a good value.
All in all I have to say, that there was NOTHING negative and that I can recommend the Barangay to everyone who wants to travel to Amsterdam!

I was with my girlfriend Jasmin 3 days in Amsterdam and it was great luck, that we found Barangay. The two great people Willow and Godwin have very nice rooms...excellent ideas with the tropical room and they are both so friendly....we felt a bit like home....
This nice place is just two or three minutes from the central station and three minutes from the centre away...it couldn`t be better. I hope I will come back soon!

B&B Barangay- Amsterdam- Wimmo & Godwin were excellent host at their Bed & Breakfast in Amsterdam. We arrived and was greeted with a smile and a glass of wine! Wimmo & Godwin made us feel quite welcome. The rooms were nice and clean and they delivered on every promise and some. The B&B is centrally located to the train station and tourists shopping as well as restaurants. Wimmon & Godwin were detailed on historical sites and advised us on safety tips, and all of the do's and don'ts. They even assisted us with hotel accomodations for our continued trip to Paris, France.
When we make our return visit to Europe, Amsterdam is automatically on my list because it is such a great place and very liberal. We know where we will be staying yes...The Barangay!

You'll love your stay at Barangay

I have recently returned from a short stay at Barangay. I have stayed there
several times before, in fact I would not stay anywhere else when visiting Amsterdam. The bed and breakfast accomodation is situated in an 18th Century building in Droogbak, a quiet street, only a short walk from Central Station. As it is so near to Central station it is also handy for all public transport - buses, trams, metro etc.
You are within easy walking distance of all of Amsterdam's many attractions - canals, bars, coffee houses, cinemas, museums etc. The famous Anne Frank's House is only 5 minutes walk away, as is the infamous red light district. Amsterdam itself is, of course, a lovely, lively city and is inviting at any time of year.
All rooms at Barangay have tv, refridgerator, coffee or tea making facilities and private bathroom, and are spotlessly clean. Breakfast is served in your room and makes a good start to the day. You will certainly not need anything else to eat until much later in the day. Your hosts, Wimmo and Godwin, are two very friendly guys who will do all they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. They will advise you on where to go, what to see etc. in fact nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.
So, if you are visiting Amsterdam for the first time, or even planning a return trip, then do give Barangay a try. You will not be disappointed, and you will certainly want to return.
