Try to pick up some free minicards, you can find them in restaurants, hotels, tourist office,.....
Minicards are handsomely designed full-colour advertising cards of credit card format. Some of them just give you advertising but most of them give you free things like free coffie after a meal, 10% discount for designing your own t-shirt, 1€ discount,....
Pay attention to the canals. There are more here than in Vencie! Walking around this city was a blast. So much to see -- architecture, water, bicycles, street life, red light district. I felt like I could just walk around forever in this town.
One of the best known features of Amsterdam are the "Coffee Shops". Because of Holland's laws on soft drugs, it is possible to legally consume some of them. You can do so in specialised establishments called Coffee Shops (obviously, the Dutch are quite proficient in the art of English understatement) that you can find all over the centre.
