Clean and Comfortable

Value for money this is a perfect hotel. The rooms are fine, if a little basic. The tram stop at Surinameplein into town is only a minute, if that, away and the journey takes about 20 minutes.

If you are looking for a mid-price hotel and don't need to be central I would certainly recommend the Belfort.

The only little hiccup is that it is the last stop on the night bus route from the centre - which means that it is about 45 minutes when heading back at 3am, but such is life!

Unique Quality: Excellent staff. Travelling by myself the single rate was not too hefty. When I came back most mornings, about 4 am, the night porter was perfectly happy to sort me out a brandy or two as a nightcap. Reception was friendly and efficient. Breakfast is ok - the coffee is good!

3 days in Amsterdam

by FraMauro

I will be arriving at Schipol in the morning, stay for 3 days then take a TGV to Paris. I have one day planned for Keukenhof, plus city sightseeing, canal tours and one other city. I have the following package for 3 days stay + breakfast + canal bus day pass (green, blue and red)

Hotel Belfort - eur 163 per person
Hotel Eden Leidse square - eur 214 per person

Has anyone stayed here? Are they easily accessible to the places in my itinerary?

Thanks

I've stayed at the Belfort which is an OK hotel and very reasonably priced. It is a bit out of the city centre, about 20 minutes by tram, but the trams are frequent and the stop is less than a minute walk from the hotel.

I've also stayed with the Eden group, but not on Leidseplein, and these are OK as well and more central - rooms tend to be on the small side though and can be noisy.

Have a good trip!

Leidsesquare is really central and you can basically walk anywhere from there. Amsterdam is a pretty small walkable city. I suggest renting a bike though and go to Vondel Park, right by your hotel!

Belfort Hotel is 20 minutes by tram from the Central Station (and indeed outside downtown Amsterdam).

The Eden American Hotel is 20 minutes by tram from the Central Station (the Leidseplein being one of Amsterdam hot spots).

Your itinerary start from the Central Station for all your planned activities.

The canal bus will take you at a slower pace to wherever you want to go.; see:
