A good choice for train travellers

    by

The Bellevue Hotel is a very good option for those who travel by train, since it's just beside the train station (5 minutes walk) and you can save time and money. It's very clean, the rooms are comfortable and the staff is helpful. The price is average. It's also very near the Dam Square and Red Light District and the Tram station is just a few meters from it, so you can reach anywhere in the city easily.

The breakfast is good, but the price is very expensive for what it's offered. You can look for other breakfast options, but Amsterdam is a expensive city and you won't find too much cheaper options with the same quality.

    Directions: Near the train station

    Good location

    by

It was really hard to find a Hotel with a good location and still with an affordable price.
We were then lucky to find this hotel in the internet.

Unique Quality: Bellevue Hotel cost us 99 Euro per night and offers rather small rooms. They are newly renovated and look very stylish. The hotel is located just accross the railway station.

Breakfast is included (even though written otherwise on various websites) and offers a wide choice of tasty things.

Directions: Take the very right exit of the Railway Station and walk towards downtow. It's just at the beginning of Martelaarsgracht.

  • location, near Station but quiet enough...

    by

We booked a premium room, at very little extra cost, and certainly liked it, in terms of decor, size and facilities. It was quiet enough, being double glazed, despite being on frontage. Air conditioning was useful, avoiding that "too hot" feeling of some hotel rooms.

Good breakfast (bacon, eggs. sausages etc, plus usual cheese, meats , cereals options)

Hotel staff friendly, English-speaking - allowed us use of luggage room for last hours.

Definitely stay there again - recommended!

(PS try 'oldest bar in Amsterdam' in same block - perfect brown cafe style)

Directions: Just a simple walk from Central Station

    Clean and Great access

    by

A very clean and tidy hotel, I would say. I had a single bed room that was VERY small but interesting (as you might know, Amsterdam has a shortage of constructable land, so the houses are generally small). Located only a stone throw from the centraal station (and therfore easy access to many places) you can reach many of the attractions (e.g. Dam square, RLD, Anne Frank's...) through a 5 minute walk. Oh and friendly staff too. To be honest, I didn't check out any facilities. Breakfast (not anything special about it) is served in the ground floor cafe, which the price is not included in the room rates. Since I didn't see the size of other rooms I could highly recommend this hotel for a single individual planning to wander all about Amsterdam.

Directions: Almost opposite the Centraal station, just west to the Daamrak street

  • Had a great stay @ the Bellevue

    by

From the second that we walked into the Bellevue at 10 am, the hospitality was fantastic. While we did have to check in at 2 (early check-in was not granted for us), the staff was very friendly and helpful in trying to get us in there earlier. The hotel is very clean and tidy, but it does lack in amenities (although from the research I've done it has a lot more to it than most hotels in the central Amsterdam area). The rooms were small but comfortable and very clean. The most annoying thing I found was the bathroom which had a shower exactly level with the rest of the room, causing some flooding here and there. Other then that, the room gives off a very contemporary vibe, and even includes an LCD TV with more channels than I expected, although since you're in Amsterdam that doesnt matter much.

The breakfast was included in our price of $190USD per night for a double room, and we found it a very delicious start to our day. Our room faced the inside of the hotel, and by request we were given a room above the third floor (to avoid noise). While the view was not terrific, it was peaceful. You can request a room facing the street which is far more asthetically pleasing, but can be very loud if you're not higher up.

Unique Quality: Bellevue is located a 3 minute walk from Centraal Station, which made it an ideal hotel considering all we had to do when we arrived from the airport was cross the street. It's location is absolutely key in the sense that we had all of the trams and main streets right next to us. You visit most of Amsterdam on foot from this hotel, with the exclusion of Waterlooplein and Leidesplein, which I found to be more comfortable via the tram system. Should you choose to go outside of Amsterdam for a side-trip, the Centraal Station serves that purpose.

After reading previous reviews I stayed at the Bellevue Hotel on 20-21 February 2006 and can only echo the previous excellent reports.
The location is superb and convenient. It is located 150 metres from the Central Station, 100 metres from the canal cruise starting point and less than 100 metres from the place where all the coaches drop off from the ferry ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. All this and right in the heart of the city - you cannot ask for more.
The rooms are secure as the only access to them is in the lift and this is security operated by your room access card.
The rooms are immaculate with all modern bright furniture. The beds are so comfortable and there is also a plasma tv built into the bedroom wall. The main colour within the room is white and this would obviously show up any dirt etc - but there is none.
The restaurant is fine and the food more than acceptable.
Staff are extremely helpful - we arrived at 10.00 a.m and although our room was not available until 2.00p.m we could store our luggage in a secure room allowing us to roam the streets of Amsterdam luggage -free.
The only minor criticism is that I would have liked a tea / coffee tray in the room but that is all I can say from a negative point of view.
For £65 for a room and breakfast in this 3 star hotel (itshould be at least 4 star)I have absolutely nothing but praise.

Swing a Cat?

by TripAdvisor Member Wentworth1

We booked the Bellevue based on Trip Advisor recommendations and were certainly pleased with our choice. It has a great location and the rooms were clean, bright and quiet (We had a courtyard facing room - the ones facing the street may be noisier). If you're tired and want somewhere to eat we can recommend the BrasserIJ in the hotel - good quality and low prices and certainly better than the tacky tourist traps nearby.

Any negatives? Only that the rooms are pretty small - in the singles you'd struggle to swing a kitten let alone a cat. The doubles are a bit better but still not particularly spacious. Overall though not something to worry about unless you plan to travel with a lot of luggage or spend a lot of time in your room.

Booked based on reviews read on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed.
Excellent location close to train station, very clean, breakfast buffet above average.
The staff were fairly friendly and helpful.
If you're thinking of heading to Amsterdam, you won't go far wrong at the Belle Vue.

All round - a great choice

The fact that this hotel is opposite the Central Station is a massive plus on its own, we were checked in within 5 minutes of arriving in Amsterdam! The room was small (as expected) but the minimal use of colour i.e. white, with a picture of blades of grass on the whole of one wall was clean and smart. The flat screen TV with (English football showing) was a plus point to.

Food

The breakfast was really good, as although it is stated as continental, they did actually have a large variety of food, including bacon and eggs and beans for you English people!

Dinner in the hotel looked good aswell, but we didnt have it...

Basically, this is a nice plaec, id stay there again
