Bugs and ***
This place should be shut down! The reason the rooms are so dark is because when you get in there in the middle of the night you dont see all the thousands of BEDBUGS running around. I woke up to them everywhere! all over my bags, in my bags, on the ceiling and walls. Obviously they know they have an issue and refuse to do anything about it. What happens when people bring this back home because they didnt notice. I spent over 20 euros at the laundry mat. And to top it off the manager refused to give back my money! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!

HAS BEDBUGS! STAY AWAY!!!!
CORDIAL HOTEL HAS BEDBUGS!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!
My friend and I realized that there were bedbugs in the bed after 1 night sleep. We demanded to speak to the owner, who denied being the owner, refused to give us a refund for the evening, and only transferred to his other hotel for the remainder of our stay. He also then claimed that we brought the bedbugs with us!! We had to spend an entire day of our trip doing laundry. GETTING BEDBUGS was bad enough, but dealing with this hotel’s management and owner was the worst experience ever!!!! There are better places to stay in Amsterdam- it is NOT worth the money!!!!

Only a short walk from Dam
Searching the web this hotel looked like a reasonable deal (all bettter deals were already fully booked despite the for Amsterdam rather unusual season). And in fact it is centrally located but the first surprise was that the section of the Rokin street just in front of the hotel was a huge construction site for the Amsterdam Metro (I thought that at least in the center all this work was already done long ago....) But it was somewhat less noisy than it could have been).
Unique Quality: Since the centre of Amsterdam is full of hotels the central location is not a unique quality. One thing I saw on the hotel website were the two words "gay friendly" but I did not take special attention to it because many Amsterdam hotels write it and we were happy to be accepted here as hetero couple but latest at the first breakfast we noticed that we were a clear minority... The exact description would be more gay than friendly
The room contained all what must be in a 2-star hotel but all at the absolute minimum. The table for example was not bigger than the phone plus the guidebook and two digital cameras. And only at one side of the double bed was something like a bedside table.
The breakfast was definitely not the excellent quality I found in other Dutch hotels earlier.

Very central & cheap
Have stayed at this hotel twice during my stays in Amsterdam.
If you are simply looking for a very central spot, a cheap price, and are not really bothered about the size of the room, then this may be the place for you.
Unique Quality: The breakfast, as I remember, was pretty decent for the overall price of the stay.

Not a bad place...
The first year we stayed here we booked online a day prior from London. It cost around $60 euro....the room was clean and kind of spacious - although the ceilings were slanted to make it more compact...we were on the top floor with two other rooms. There washroom facilities were shared although I believe we had a shower and sink in our room. There was asmall lobby bar which served.....they also had vending machines with heineken for $1.50euro...no need to buy beer for the room...grab one on the way up.
The location is central and like everything else...within waslking distance of everything else...we tried to stay there a second time but the price was considerably higher.....however it was a very busy weekend. All in all if you can get a room there for a decent price it is worth it...no complaints.
Unique Quality: Beer in the vending machine $1.50 euro.

Affordable and clean
We booked this hotel on-line the night before we arrived...We spent about 2 hours researching before booking it. Upon check-in we were a bit leary about our selection. I think it was about 65 euro/night in June and we had shared bathroom but our own shower....Nothing fancy but good enough for the amount of time spent there...
Unique Quality: Over all we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and thankful for the pop machine in the lobby. It was well well stocked with Heinekin @ 1.50 euro

We stayed at the Hotel Cordial...
We stayed at the Hotel Cordial which is right on Rokin, one of the main streets. Even though the rooms were small, the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Depending on when you go, most rooms are under $90 USD a night.
Unique Quality: The location for this hotel was great. Right on a main street with multiple tram lines and close to much of Central Amsterdam. Most everything was in walking distance.
