Apartment/Bed & Breakfast
by Karie70 about Eric's Bed & Breakfast
More of an apartment than bed & breakfast. Had a great stay in the apartment on Prinsengracht. There are a lot of step, skinny stairs so I wouldn't bring tons of luggage. Kitchen and living room are on one level and bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. It really was a great central location. Train station is only a short tram ride away. Highly recommend. Great view of the Prinsengracht if you love to people watch.
Super 100-year old traditional barge
by aaaarrgh about L01491, Prinsengracht
L01491 is a wonderful, traditional Dutch barge moored near the River Amstel, on the Prinsengracht. Before I arrived I had only seen a few small photographs of it. However, it turned out to be far better than expected.
The owners had lived on L01491 when they were students many years ago. It is beautifully looked after. There is a large lounge, double-bedroom, kitchen, shower room and a double 'bed' in the bow of the boat. All with super curved-timber ceilings, port-holes and windows overlooking the busy canal.
It was a nice surprise to find cable TV and a modern music centre in the lounge. So we could watch some Wimbledon tennis, the "Live 8" concert and had an excuse to discover "Concerto", the brilliant local CD shop, to purchase some music :-)
It may be possible to contact the owners directly, I have not asked yet, so will not put their telephone number here. The barge is currently available through City Mundo, the online Amsterdam accommodation agency. Prices worked out at under 50 euros per person per night, for 4 people sharing. The barge is remarkable, a real history lesson. It is over 100-years old. It will definitely save you the bother of visiting the 'Houseboat Museum', further along Prinsengracht :-)
Houseboat rental on Prinsengracht
by dustmon about Houseboathotel
I had stayed in one other houseboat before, and it was not available, so tried www.houseboathotel.nl and ended up at Irene's (ih-ree-na) place near the Anne Frank House on the Prinsengracht canal. I cannot tell you how cool it is to sit on the back deck in the sun, waving to the cruising boats going by, who probably think you are a native! One bedroom with a split king bed, a nice shower, a gas stove, small fridge and microwave, table and chairs, a small loveseat and chair in the living area and a small nice deck with 2 chairs and a small table. Swans and other waterbirds come right up to you hoping for bread---pretty much a residential area, but a really nice pancake place and a Dutch restaurant less than a block away. The Jordaan is right across the canal with tons of cool walks among the shops and galleries. Guess you can tell I love Amsterdam, huh? The website has much more to offer if you want a different area, but this is the only boat I have stayed on and would recommend it highly---about the same as a nice hotel room, but so much more to offer. Irene lives across the street if needed. Bottle of Prosecco upon arrival, lovely canal living, lots of restaurants close by
An apartment with a terrace
by davequ about CityMundo apartment
My apartment in the western canal belt next to Prinsengracht & the Jordaan that I rented from Citymundo had a beautiful terrace view facing north toward Westerkerk.
Here is the view in the afternoon.
On the left is the back of the Hotel Pullitzer, with it's own terrace garden under my terrace, and the West Church tower in the background. Large, with separate bedroom (1 bed w/a pullout) with a door to the terrace, kitchen, laundry (washer/dryer), bath with shower, and nice living room with couch & stereo and big windows that faced the street.

A wonderful guesthouse on Prinsengracht
by isaac509 about Triple Five Guesthouse
We moved to 555 for our second week in Amsterdam, and we were very happy with that choice. We worked with Anies- he was kind, accomodating and genuinely funny!
Our room was on the second floor (there are only 2 rooms!), and it was wonderful to open up the double doors that face the canal. It was unseasonably warm this last October!
There are no kitchen facilities, nor are there any meals on offer, but you do have access to a small refrigerator and a electric teakettle, which was just fine for us. The space was clean, inviting and well kept, and the onsite wi-fi access supported VOIP and fast browsing with no issues. I really liked the neighborhood. The 'Kaas-Note' on Runstraat kept us well-stocked with wonderful snacks, and we were right around the corner from Johnny Jordaan plein. There is an Albert Heijn right down Elandsgracht, and some very nice coffeeshops onthe route to the AH :)

Family-focused trip to Amsterdam - just before Christmas
by AndrewFF
Hi
I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of the Hotel Hampshire Inn PRINSENGRACHT?
Also, as I am travelling with two small kids, a wife and a mother (glutton for punishment), any ideas re: specific locations to visit - eg Christmas market/shows/restaurants etc?
Staying for three nights jsut before Christmas.
Regards
Andrew

There is Winter Village.
It will take the metro ride of ~15 minutes to the Arena Stadium.
A great winter event for the holiday season. Enjoy this lovely winter location where top chefs create culinary surprises. You can join a range of sports activities.
Address: ArenA Boulevard 1 - Amsterdam Zuidoost
Closer to your hotel is the Bible Musuem at Herengracht 366.
There are special activities for kids up to 12 years of age.
Special programs include a Christmas concert and a magic lantern show. In addition, the Christmas story will be acted out.
