    Good location and price

    by

We were only going to be in Amsterdam for 3 nights and wanted to stay somewhere centrally located to make getting around easy. The Hotel Hegra was an excellent choice. It is located on the Herengracht canal near great restaurants and boutiques. We stayed on the 3rd floor, in the quad at the back of the hotel. We found it to be very quiet, and were there in early August during the gay pride festivities. Perhaps it was the jet lag that had us sleeping soundly, but we did not feel that the hotel was too noisy as I've seen in other reviews of the hotel. The staff was helpful in providing directions. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable, although we noticed the double room next door was quite small. Beware the steep, narrow staircase - the building was built in the 1600s so you may find it slightly difficult with a large, heavy bag. We did not have breakfast at the hotel but it is available for an extra fee. If you are looking for luxury, this may not be the right property for you. But if you are looking for good value, basic, clean accommodations in a nice location, I would recommend this hotel.

    inexpensive hotel

    by

Here you can expect a wonderful location, friendly receptionist and owner, good breakfast, a minuscule room and an imposing cat Othello for about 70 Euro/room/night. Don't feed the cat!

Unique Quality: No hair dryer, no soap, no shampoo, but clean room and linens

    Directions: Herengracht

  • Hotel Hegra is a small budget...

Hotel Hegra is a small budget hotel in the center of town. You can walk to The Dam and other tourist places. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Ah! There was one sweet kitten when I was there. Very sweet until I wanted to kidnap her!
