Another budget Amsterdam hotel
If you're young there's plenty of youth hostels to choose from. I did this in 1981, stayed near the Vondelpark - I think this Hostel is still in operation.
In 2000 we stayed in the Crystal Hotel, 2 star near Leidesplein and the Museums. Arrived in Amsterdam without a hotel on a beautiful February Saturday. For this far from 'in season', the place was remarkably crowded. Waited at least 3/4 hr at VVV to find a room.
It cost us about 180nlg a night.
