Close to the Leidseplein
Hotel "De Lantaerne" is a friendly one-star family hotel located in a 18th century building. Hotel has 28 rooms. All rooms are equipped with private facilities, shower, wc, TV and phone.
The hotel stays open all night.
I have no personal experience in staying at this hotel, but in early 2011 this hotel ranked 6 in a Tripadvisor Top 10 European dirtiest hotels. The owner claimed this was based on old data, as he had the whole building renovated.

Cheap and near the centre
The specail thing is i think the old name that this hotel is wearing. Lantearne means ... lamppost.
Unique Quality: Again close to the centre.

Hotel De Lantaerne
Perhaps the best hotel I've stayed in during my Europe trip is the Hotel De Lantaerne. Our triple room faced one of the many picturesque canals and was spacious too. A nice simple Dutch breakfast was included for us, which was held in the basement of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and always willing to offer you tips on places to visit.
Unique Quality: Nice decor with carpeted stairs.
Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Very suitable for all travellers, whether you are on a budget or not.

Hiya, I haven't stayed there but it looks like it is very centrally situated on the Leidseplein.
